Though Mihawk would have never imagined himself admitting it ten years ago, he was actually glad to see the red-haired pirate stumble into the bar. Their history had been a long and interesting one to date. Once rivals, Red-Haired Shanks, the strongest of one of the most famed vampire hunter families had sworn to kill him. That was before he had abandoned his familial duties and absconded into the unknown world to become a pirate, of course.
Since then, most of the time Shanks seemed to favor getting drunk rather than reaching for his saber whenever he crossed Mihawk’s path. The two had remarkably different personalities, but still managed to get along, somehow. Even though he had officially left the ranks of the vampire hunters, it was in the man’s blood to kill them when the opportunity presented itself. Many of the creatures were quite menacing – oft brutally killing people in mass amounts. It was a noble cause, Mihawk had to admit, so when he man’s eyes became fierce upon finding him it was notice enough that he was going to at the very least make a half-hearted attempt at his life.
As Shanks pressed forward, stumbling a few times in obvious drunkard steps, the swordsman’s golden gaze traveled to the man’s hip. By the time Red Hair was before him, Mihawk was greeting him with a knowing smile.
“It seems as if you forgot your saber on the ship.” He informed him, releasing a few throaty chuckles at the other’s expense. “I suppose you can fight me without it, or you could have a drink first with me first and I’ll meet you outside in a while.”
