"Dry Weight"
One aspect of dialysis that I don't think many people are aware of is this thing called dry weight. What it is in a nutshell is the weight you would be without any excess fluid, which would normally be removed from the body through urine. Figuring out someone's dry weight is just a bunch of guessing until they get it right.
The troubling thing about it is if you are way over or under your dry weight it causes all kinds of problems. Today I came out under my dry weight and I've been in a lot of pain today, my body is cramping, I feel dehydrated, my BP is real low, and I've had this headache that just won't end. I've also had 2 dialysis treatments in a row so that's also having an affect.
When you are over your dry weight it also causes problems like difficultly breathing, chest pains, heart issues, high blood pressure, and fatigue. So it's very important to watch fluids between treatment otherwise it's a miserable experience until you can get to a dialysis treatment.
No one can tell me why sometimes my body will give up more fluid than what the machine says it takes off. Hate feeling miserable after treatments especially since they always claim you're supposed to feel better.
