Something Wicked 2026

I have a feeling if I keep working on this I'll over work it so I'm calling it done for the meantime. Might make some more adjustments when I can look at it with new eyes. This was fun, even though I haven't painted or drawn in a long time this was great to get those muscles moving again. I created this image many years ago, and something about it kept me coming back to it periodically. It's a true testament to my growth as an artist to see how much I've grown over the years. This version pushed my patience and made me very frustrated at times... I miss doing art.

This has been my goal for many years, but I've moved on to Blu Ray. Honestly there have been times when the internet went out and I don't like spending too much time on my phone so having my favorite movies on blu-ray/dvd made those times pass much easier.

Work in Progress - Values with Flat Colors

Flat Colors

I found I had when I had started painting, I found myself falling into an old habit, and was struggling with this. Then I went back to some of my old lessons and had to start over with those principles I had to brush back up on. Doing a value painting before color really does make the process easier. My teacher would constantly tell me to trust the process and all I kept hearing was this mantra as I painted. It's hard not to focus on details at this stage but it's important to get those values. Now comes the fun part.

Reworked the dress, when I originally had the idea for this, I wanted to give her a ruffled dress, but my skills just weren't there at the time so she got some sort of dress. Now the dress is more defined... this took so much longer than I thought it would.

Previously

This is a work in progress of a painting I've repainted a few times now, each progressively getting better over the years. This marks 10 years since the last version (below left) and 2010 the version before(below right). The original is from 2007/8 but I can no longer locate it.

I don't know if this new version will end up being that version I saw in my head or close to it. I just enjoy the journey of seeing my progress over the years and how my style has changed and adapted. If you haven't repainted an old painting or drawing of yours I suggest to try it out, this has been a fun project for me.
