A weird woodland shrine... thing in the grounds of Charleville Castle, Co. Offaly, Ireland. March 2022. Featuring jars (one half full of buttons) and a lantern, a wooden cross, lots of fist-sized pebbles, and on the other side of the beech tree it's set up by, two pink tulips in a bottle and some tree-graffiti from 1923.

Hazel woods near Charleville. It's interesting seeing the difference a metre or so in elevation makes; land only a little higher was all oak and ash, but this low-lying bit was hazel right the way across. It's also different in winter; hazel in leaf is cheerful and welcoming, while in this leafless state it's a little bit creepy.
