Distant Shores Future Headcanons
Some headcanons for the DS crew (separates into categories) if they ever followed MC to the future for a visit!
- Getting passports and identification for the crew was the hardest thing to do
PotC and other pirate entertainment content
- They watch the PotC films, and have a blast, except Oliver, who is constantly teased by the crew regarding the portrayal of the navy in the films
- They also point out historical inaccuracies. Overall, they love the fact that pirates are admired today whereas the navy is just the navy
- They play Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag together, with Edward and Oliver directing some of the naval battles
Modern Technology and Travel
- Everyone gets a go at MC’s laptop / PC. Charlie and Oliver tie for fastest typists but are clearly no match for MC
- They race in an indoor circuit, the captains - Edward and Oliver are head to head near the end, but Charlie / MC passes both of them to take first place
- They go on an airplane! And a cruise ship! And trains! And MC is now hella broke
- The cruise took them to modern day Tiburon, now a popular vacation spot
- Edward is confounded by how people on the cruise spent their time at sea pretending they were on land / doing familiar land activities
- While in London, the crew is fascinated at the idea of visiting the Tower as tourists, rather than the prisoners they might’ve been under different circumstances
- While MC had to deal with the bad smells in the 18th century locations, the crew face the same problem with air pollution from vehicles
- Oliver marvels at how much London had changed, but he can still roughly point out where he lived (a different house stands there now)
- Oliver visits the Royal Navy Museum in Portsmouth
- Everyone takes turns calling each other on the phone where one recipient is in MC’s backyard and the other in the living room
General
- Chocolate was a luxury in the 18th century so MC indulged the entire crew in all the chocolate they could eat
- Henry is not impressed by the food at a robot-run restaurant
- Charlie is just ecstatically pleased to see / hear that women are granted rights and education
- Edward resumes his reading habit, picking up laymen books on evolution and physics
- They spend an evening watching history videos on YouTube, half amused and still dazed from being in the future
- Stories from the two world wars weigh heavy on everyone, seeing how the same modern technology they admired were used in war
- Ax and Ada catch a modern day circus performance, and are impressed by all the lights and effects, but claim they can put on just as good of a show without those frills
