Roger Collins. (for the meme)
how i feel about this character
ROGER COLLINS - i'm doing this burtonverse - IS A TOTAL SKEEZE
LIKE HE'S DISGUSTING
AND I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT HIM ANYWAY because honestly, when it comes down to it, he is the one disgusting character that i will accept an excuse for - and that's only because angelique's curse ruined the rest of the collins family too, and because it's so apparent that he and laura had been happy beforehand. that doesn't make it right for him to have been a total disgusting douchebag, but it - explains things. i guess. maybe excuse isn't the right word.
all the people i ship romantically with this character:
victoria winters. laura. julia hoffman. because you know it totally happened that one night when she wanted information and was feeling lonely and OOPS THEY MADE OUT and probably slept together and then roger freaked out and started chasing younger women and sent julia's youth complex into overdrive hahahahAHHAHAHAHA ROGER COLLINS RUINS EVERYTHING
my non-romantic otp for this character
e - v e r y o n e else? uh. idk dark shadows is weird because i ship everyone with everyone
i guess carolyn??
my unpopular opinion about this character
i guess that he's not a total asshole. that there's some reasoning and depth behind that (lol using depth in regards to the dark shadows movie).
one thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
i really, really wish there'd been more regarding him and laura. a flashback or something. i can only speculate about him staring bitterly out the window for so long.
VICTORIA/JULIA 3 10 AND 18.
Are they open about their relationship? How do they feel about public displays of affection?
at some times more than others. vicki's cool with it either way, but sometime's julia's like NO GOTTA BE PROFESSIONAL and others she's like WHATEVER I WILL DO WHAT I WANT HOW DO YOU EXPECT US LADIES TO PROGRESS IN THIS WORLD etc. etc. etc. vicki totally makes her hold hands though whatever.
Who drives? Cooks? Does the handiwork? Cleans? Pays the bills? Handles the public?
driving: HAHAHAHAHA julia because vicki can't. :|cooking: vicki.handiwork: vicki WHEN WILLIE LOOMIS ISN'T AROUND. julia complains that her skirts are too short for it so she doesn't have to.cleans: ...vicki.pays the bills: julia.public relations: ...lbr they still live at collinwood so that's liz's department. and i'm too busy to go back and edit my answers to reflect the people at collinwood who would do literally every task.
What are their dates like? How long do/did they date? Do they ever feel the need to take a break from each other?
their dates fluctuate between belligerent and really quiet. i feel like they technically dated forever and ever because julia's like I DON'T FEEL THE NEED FOR A WEDDING IT'S PAPER VICKI IT'S JUST PAPER. and i feel like they try to maintain "healthy space" from one another and it just ultimately doesn't work out like that.
✖, dark shadows, ofc
AND YOU GET SEQUELVERSE:
He stretches and Elizabeth watches him, stony gaze never faltering for a second. And he winces, just for show. Nothing hurts and it's almost like she can feel it (or rather, can't feel anything) as well.
The bandage scratches at his neck. A nuisance more than anything. Adhesive clinging to his skin, to the tiny hairs on the back of his neck. It tugs every time he moves his neck, and he's not yet ready to resign himself to bedrest just yet.
"Are all the ladies here nice enough to take on nurse duty?" he asks, back leaning against the headboard, lips curling upward. He bares his teeth in a grin that doesn't make her eyes sparkle.
Elizabeth says, "You said your name was Quentin," in a way that's assured, businesslike. Icy, almost.
He doesn't let his expression falter as he responds, "Yes."
"Your wounds have healed." She speaks slower now, head tilting. Her hands twitch, fingers moving a fraction of an inch. Tiny. No one else would have noticed.
"I must've been out for a long time."
"A day and a half," she says. She rises and her skirt swings around her ankles as she moves to the window, crouching to peer out of it. The beach awaits; he's in a room that faces the ocean. It crashes against the rocks. "Strange, when my daughter found you in a puddle of blood."
Quentin says nothing, tongue swelling in his throat, he swears. Idly (not so) he turns his head away from her. The bandage seems to rip at his skin.
30; angie and vicky!
#30 - in the rain
(also i did this movieverse because it was easier uh)
--
Angelique sees her on the dock, rain pouring down, near freezing in the October wind, and she doesn't say a word. Victoria's small and the water drips from the blue of her coat, stains her hair to a dark brown, sticks it to the back of her neck. She stares out to sea, the waves choppy, slicing against the wood below her. She's serene against their violence, almost a bright beacon, grounded.
She belongs there.
The thought is bitter in Angelique's mind and churns her stomach. She doesn't.
She holds her umbrella high and leaves the girl behind, heels clicking.
Burton Shadows Josette and Victoria; 10.
breathe again
—
Josette is nothing but a stream of thoughts, repeated motions and a mind caged by silence. She sees but cannot speak, can only observe and it’s all too familiar (wind in her hair, slicing her skin, body screaming to run as she plummets from the cliff).
The balcony is cold and you’ll catch your death out here, Barnabas says (to Victoria, but Josette is nearby. She feels him and he sees her). No, not yet, Josette knows but cannot say. But she, Victoria, hesitates and Josette lets herself in, lets herself breathe, just once, to be the one with him.
Burton Shadows Roger and Laura; 78 or 82 bluh bluh bluh
can you hear me
--
He tells himself David's lying. That David is five and David watched his mother tumble overboard, that David was helpless as his mother drowned (but so did he and so was he).
David is disturbed, he tells himself.
He has to, or else his bed is too empty and the night is too silent; or else he chokes her name into the dark, or else he's talking to himself because there's nothing there.
Because Laura is not there.
David nudges his shoulder at dawn to wake him and he saw Mom again.
"What did I tell you about lying, David?"
i showed burton shadows to ariel.
keep in mind that she's seen like ten episodes of the original max (and from varying storylines because i showed her like two from barnabas' intro, some 1795, and the beginning of 1897)
she laughed at all the dramatic soap opera moments and even she could tell that there was some serious love for the original in it, so this was an excellent success.
