Old Man Yaoi May Not Be So Old

So there’s a segment in the DSaF fandom that beleive Dave and Jack are visibly old men. I’m fine with it, I used to, and in fact love the designs especially because there’s seems to be an almost taboo of drawing old people to a point and it’s homely really great that people here are doing it, but I don’t think that’s actually true canonically like I used to. I must stress though DRAW THEM HOW YOU LIKE. They can be old or not it doesn’t concern me.

Both of them are corpses. In terms of age, yes, they are quite old, but corpses don’t tend to age. And we see this in DSAF with the Phones not aging visibly, perhaps it’s just that it’s stock photos but Harry, despite being Gen 1, is physically not old. Why? Because Harry isn’t alive. None of the phones are. The phones are just well preserved and act like living creatures.

You know what else isn’t alive but acts like it? Dave and Jack. While they’d be in terms of numbers, old, in DSAF 3, given their ages at which they died it’s unlikely they’d physically get any older. And don’t say some kinda magic thing because we know for a fact that both behave like corpses, especially Jack. Jack paints himself orange to look alive (a weird colour choice but I digress), he does this because his body is rotting, likely turning black or purple (this also means any cursed colour swap between the two, the Jack side may just not have put on his makeup yet lol). Jack is rotting, definitely not alive body behaviours. Dave also does not behave like a living person. How many of those do you know that can do what he does. There seems to be a consensus that Davetrap is rotting but Dave is too nothing happened to Davetrap to kickstart the process that would mean Dave could not have before, it’s likely the pests just got in because he was stationary and likely far slower.

Let’s also talk about their behaviour. It’s not great to go off of but Jack doesn’t act like a mature adult and neither does Dave, they act like they’re rather young adults still figuring themselves out. Jack especially is quite childish, as if he never got a chance to mature. You could bring up Dee, but Dee’s situation is far different. It doesn’t seem like Dee has actually mentally matured so much as she has been put in a position in which she has no choice but to take on a more mature role and tries to fit that, she has no reason to mentally age, and none of the other children have meaning if she actually got older there would have to be more to it. Dee is as old as she always was, any maturity added is not due to age but due to her situation. Dave and Jack are immature people, and with this in mind it paints a somewhat grim picture of the fact that they never got to mature.

One could mention the ending in which Jack dies of old age… but the phones also have beards here and Jack is actually established to be semi immortal so dying of old age just doesn’t make sense, he can die, but it seems like he gets back up. So let’s be real the beards are fake, and Jack probably ate something weird, and will be fine in like 12 minutes. The game probably ends when you die because it would be weird if it didn’t even if you do get back up.

The only time I’d say Jack permanently dies is when he’s burned. Which leaves no body behind, which by the same principle as the others, means there’s nothing left to come back which sucks for him because oops no soul either.

Jack can also get rabies but… this also doesn’t feel like a sign he is alive.

Dave actively does rot in the game as Davetrap, Jack rots constantly, it’s safe to say their bodies do not work like human ones especially considering not having organs is not something that kills Dave. At least not that we know.

With all of this in mind, yeah. They are corpses. And as I’ve said before, corpses do not age in DSAF physically or mentally, even Blackjack is incredibly immature if you actually look at his behaviour. He’s also an asshole who never gets character development but that’s a story for another time.

It actually makes more sense if they don’t age given the very little change in their behaviour or character between games even after a massive Timeskip nothing seems to have changed at all which makes sense logically too, because why would Fredbear give Jack the ability to age? Let’s be real here if Jack can age eventually that will become a problem given that he is immortal seemingly as long as he has a body to return to. There’s no reason to give him the ability to age and plenty of reasons not to.

Now that’s not to say their bodies don’t change, they do. And if you realistically want to draw DSAF 3 Jack in his most canon possible form… which I doubt many do… Jack doesn’t age he rots he’s probably just a lot worse for wear if he hasn’t found a way to stop rotting yet. Him being an old man is unlikely, but a very decomposed zombie? More likely than you’d think.

And before anyone brings up the tapes, Dave may just look like that, pretty much every piece of art in that game is by a different person who is not Doggo, while Dave seems to be a bit older Jack does not. The tapes are in the past if we are saying that is Dave’s age in DSAF 3, sorry no.

DSAF 3 has incredibly inconsistent art to a point I’d say fans can largely disregard it but that’s an essay for another time just know art in that game isn’t as canon as people seem to think it is. At least not by my observation.

Dave and Jack are old men in age, but not in body. No in body they are most likely the age they died at which seems to have been pretty young for both of them like we know Jack was in his early 20s and Dave is a few years older but also died at the very least a few months before Jack. They aren’t old men, at least not canonically.

I must stress I mean they probably are not canonically old because honestly the DSaF fandom needs to take a chill pill and stop being angry at people for making their own designs, literally do what you want as long as it’s not illegal or like super fucked up. Don’t make Jack 12 and Dave 60 and ship that, but if you want to draw them old be my guest. This essay was just my observation of the idea that the fandom calls them old men and people seem to think they are canonically but it just seems unlikely.

Dr. Henry Miller is a frog.

Remember a long time ago in a faraway land when I made a low quality theory that claimed Henry was in fact a frog?

I’m not sorry. In fact, fuck you, fuck your mom, fuck your long lost twin hidden in the attic who creepily plays piano when the house is quiet and wears a mask of Merida from Brave to hide their deformed face.

I fucking stand by it.

Henry is a frog, we know this much by now. His hue is one frogs can have and he seems to lack features like ears and a nose. Rather frog behaviour if you ask me.

But now I ask YOU… do his teeth look real? No right, far too big they basically hold the poor guy’s mouth open by force implying need for severe dental intervention. I believe these teeth not to be real teeth at all but simply cartoonishly large dentures he got from a joke shop. We know he’d attend such a place because while he is characterized rather serious he was known for blowing up urinals causing Freddy’s bathrooms to have cams and of course just loving to laugh at all things especially dying people. He seems to have a rather good sense of humour!

So no ears, no nose, no teeth, probably no butthole ei- yeah you know what doesn’t have these things? A fuckin frog. Now I ask you does he not appear moist? He looks grimy, sticky even. Frog.

Now my last theory argues this was normal HOWEVER I have since come to believe that Henry is in fact not natural… to our world. No I’m not calling another DSAF character an alien bare with me.

See if this was normal it would change a lot. We’d see frog people. We’d see noticeable change to history as frog people grow around humanity, new inventions, fuck, new frog racism. I’m not even kidding here if frog people existed I am sure humans would be racist towards them we can’t handle people having a different dominant hand than us for fucks sake humans kinda just suck like that. There would be frog politics. Frog moistening rooms. And most of all Henry would feel no need to disguise himself with something as silly as fake teeth.

No our frog man came from another world entirely. But but but let’s be clear it’s not like with Dave who seems to have just come out of nowhere Henry interacted with people, he understands his inhumanity and actively hides it almost as if he was taught how. He has knowledge of reality far greater than that which is normal as if… otherworldly.

My dear poor stupid reader, Henry can only come from one place and once place only.

Amphibia.

Even more than that Henry is a pink frog with a sense of humour and the knowledge of how to disguise himself as human. Friends, comrades, giant enemy spiders, Henry is Sprig.

A Sprig from a tragic world where Anne never comes back from death who leaves his home and family behind in order to try to get Anne back after Hop Pop becomes an alcoholic to deal with the grief. He finds himself transported into the human world but… in the past, forced to bide his time and search for a cure to the big dead getting both medical and spiritual knowledge, taking part in the war where he looses his tongue and hat via arrow to the knee. He tattoos his eyes black and takes Dave to start Fredbear after the circus proves useless and the rest is history.

Henry is Sprig from Amphibia it all lines up it all makes sense who else would be able to create such war crimes but a guy with a slingshot, a slingshot being the earliest signs in a child of psychotic tendencies. “Sprig has hair” you say? He lost it in the war and due to stress. “This is stupid” you say, I say any other answer is madness. “The frogs in Amphibia have teeth and in proving they are fake you prove-“ FAKE. TEETH. The government is lying to you to hide this great truth.

Henry Miller is Sprig, this is fact. It had been in front of us all along we were just too blind to see it.

The Jack Empathy Essay

So I was writing another essay and it wasn’t great, but there was one thing that I feel like I do want to talk about, Jack Kennedy and his supposed lack of empathy.

Why does Jack not really care too much about his siblings, why does he ally with Henry in the bad route of the third game, and most importantly (shockingly not kidding) why is his relationship with Dave the key to all of this.

Spoilers ahead!

So let’s get this out of the way. Jack does not lack empathy, contrary to the title this essay aims to prove he DOES have it, just not towards most people.

You may be saying I’m crazy right now, of course he lacks empathy, why else would he be this way? Well I’d actually argue Jack just doesn’t COMPREHEND empathy or understand fully how to naturally show it to people he doesn’t know.

Here is my thesis: The Jack in the games is not Jack, he’s something else inhabiting Jack’s body which has his mind in there, but in a sort of fuzzy retrospective way. He knows everything the real Jack knew but he doesn’t understand it. There’s a communication error in his Jack memories to his mind which causes him to not fully grasp anything other than a general sense of the concepts of what he should be doing and feeling.

This is a weird take to say the least, but it’s not like it makes no sense with what we’re given. In fact almost everything in the games seems to support this. When Blackjack declares himself the true Jack, he doesn’t disagree, at all. He knows he isn’t Jack, he never could be. He’s not even really human. Like at all. 

Jack has slitted pupils, I’ve analyzed before the glowing eyes, but I focused on how they dilated and why Dave has such weird ones. I never really gave Jack’s weirdly inhuman cat eyes another thought, but thinking of it now, with this idea in mind and the fact Henry, who is stated to be human, doesn’t have this, it looks weird. These eyes prove that whatever he is, he’s not just an undead human, there’s something in there, it’s not a soul, or at least probably isn’t, but it’s something. 

Now let’s talk about family. 

Jack doesn’t care about them. Well he DOES, but only surface level caring. He cares in a way that feels like he just thinks he’s supposed to. Jack cares because real Jack cared. He doesn’t know why beyond that they are family, and he has and will gladly sacrifice all of them. Not because he can’t have empathy, but because in his mind, he at least subconsciously knows that they’re strangers. 

Ok, you say, but how does this prove he CAN care. Well for that, let’s take a look at the good end to the third game. Jack lies to his family, it hurts sure, but he doesn’t really have a serious moral panic doing it, but then he gets to Dave, and he can’t lie. Jack can’t bring himself to lie to Dave for one reason or another. Not only does he ONLY tell Dave the truth, but he also basically declares his love and gives Dave “his” soul. Some think Jack wanted Dave to tell, but it doesn’t feel that way, it feels like he didn’t overly care if the others knew, only if Dave knew. Dave is the only one he wanted to know the truth. Jack can and does show empathy. 

Why Dave though? Why not his family? Well as I said, his family are glorified strangers that he feels obligated to like without truly understanding why… Dave… isn’t. Jack genuinely knows and has a relationship with Dave, platonic or otherwise, he’s the only one he shows empathy because unlike the others, liking Dave doesn’t feel like an obligation. It’s an actual relationship he had and developed that he knows fully and fully comprehends. 

Now let’s talk about Henry. Why does Legacy take his side? It’s the same reason he doesn’t care more than a surface level about his family and does care about Dave. Jack knows he’s supposed to hate Henry but doesn’t feel a full motivation to beyond that he’s a bad person who killed the original Jack as well as Dee. He hates him, but not to an extreme level. So if he hates Fredbear, is ok with murder, wants a legacy, and doesn’t have more than a surface level hatred of Henry, well, if Henry talks to him he becomes super easy to manipulate because almost all their goals and opinions line up, to him, he doesn’t know Henry, not really, so it’s really not hard to side with him, he does the same with Dave who he knows was involved in his sister’s death so he’s done this before. 

So if this is the case, what about the fight with Henry? Well, in that case, he opposes all his beliefs and goals, and cares about morals so he hates him, when he finds out everything fully and sees it’s effects on others, probably especially Dave given as I’ve said, he ONLY cares about Dave truly, so the faux hatred becomes real hatred.

The only characters without prompting from others he’s ever hated (besides Matt) are Steven and Fredbear. And this actually makes a lot of sense. Steven is mean to him, and thus he doesn’t like him, even understanding the complexities of phone guy’s he still dislikes him by default because as stated, Jack only cares if it happened to him in his life, he never truly shows a distaste for phone guys as a concept without player prompting, so it’s fair to say he’s neutral on them or might not even fully understand. He doesn’t care why Steven is like this, only that he was mean.

Next is Fredbear, and why he hates him in the bad route is clear, Fredbear could solve all of this himself but doesn’t, and instead revives a rotting corpse in this weird state to do it for him. Blackjack did in a day what Fredbear failed to do in years, and Jack feels like he’s a casualty who suffers because Fredbear simply doesn’t want to do things himself.

Now let’s talk about the murdered kids. Does he care? No. Jack understands he should and generally why, but it feels more like an inconvenience to him, if not something he wants to indulge in himself. Yet another case that hints to Jack not really understanding the world around him.

I’d say Jack is like an adult man with the moral understanding of an 8 year old. He knows right from wrong but he doesn’t understand right from wrong. He’s very much an adult but has this weird thing where it’s almost like he were never actually taught good vs bad beyond that people think it exists, he doesn’t know what the words mean, just one is liked, one isn’t. So he has no qualms about doing bad things because he doesn’t know what bad means.

Now I may be, and probably am really off base. At the very least this theory is around the same weirdness level of Lizard Dave, maybe even Frogry. But I think it makes some sense.

And hey, at the very least it makes a cool fanfic concept.

Steven is in fact canonically gay! (Aka Ouija fangirling over a character she likes because people don’t talk enough about him and I’ll take any excuse)

So this post isn’t meant to attack anyone I’m fine do what you want. It’s more because I’ve noticed a lot of people saying Steven is bi or stuff and I’m thinking it’s because they aren’t aware. Which is fair because it’s not really a widely known fact.

Everyone knows that Doggo confirmed Dave and Jack to be bi/pan but they don’t know in the same post he also stated the canon (or at least his headcanon which I take as canon because he’s the creator) sexualities for Peter, Dee, Henry, and Steven. Peter being Straight, Dee being a child and thus too young to tell, Henry being straight (although I have heard from a few sources he was originally stated to be bi and Doggo was bullied into going back on it by the fandom which if that’s true, Henry is in fact bi but no one has ever provided any proof so I tend to go bi and female leaning/closeted) and Steven who is gay.

Steven being gay has been mentioned before and actually was going to be mentioned in the game but didn’t fit into dialogue easily. Steven had a boyfriend when he was alive.

I think there’s two places people get confused on this 1, these are old Doggo posts and I think people just listen to word of mouth and only know the Dave and Jack confirmed sexualities and NOT that Doggo did this for other characters. The other place is Steven’s “wife”. He didn’t actually have one.

Phones are given a fake family photo consisting of a few children and a wife who is also a phone. Which also I recall in the lore but I can’t remember exactly is in itself proof it’s not real because I recall Rebecca being mentioned as the only phone gal? But I don’t know actually if you know more please tell me this could be a Mandela effect thing.

Steven’s wife was in fact never real, it’s part of a character. In the game Scott was a real person but he was also made into somewhat of a character by the company. Steven was given a fake wife despite being gay because he wouldn’t fit the Scott role if he had a husband. Which by the way is an interesting idea to tackle in a fic of Steven’s sexuality actively being repressed by the company I may do something with that someday. He is my favourite character.

TL;DR: Steven is canonically gay but it’s kinda buried on Doggos blog and people don’t talk as much about it, Steven had a boyfriend. Steven’s wife is not real she’s basically just part of the Scott backstory, and I think Steven is a character people don’t talk enough about so I mostly wanted an excuse to talk about my boi.

Ok so disclaimer, I don’t actually know any of the canon heights, this is just a dumbass headcanon I have about Steven.

Basically, I think Steven is short, I don’t exactly have a concrete reason for this aside from “wouldn’t it be funny” and “short king Steven is best Steven”.

My reasoning for this is how his sprites look. And by the way I am NOT counting Flipside sprites as evidence for any heights because upon reviewing a lot of them characters fluctuate wildly and if some scenes are to be believed Peter is fucking giant. I could try to justify this with a headcanon about sizes fluctuating because it’s not a physical plane but I think the actual likely reason for this is that Doggo didn’t feel like measuring to keep everyone’s size consistent across every cutscene.

I do use those sprites to measure based on bodily proportions which is why I tend to draw Peter pretty tall aside from tall Peter also funny. If you measure like this rather than just going by pixels Steven is definitely shorter. It could be that he has a big fucking head. But I doubt it would be SO extreme.

Anyway Flipside sprites aside the overworld Steven sprites also kinda carry this vibe that he’s small. Though the suit does seem to fit the way it’s cut makes it look like it’s way too big and loose on him like it’s a few sizes too large.

I also believe Steven is wearing high heels why? Vibes and trust me bro I know what I’m talking about!
