ok, as promised, here’s why I think Dee is transfem and cistrans:

so I personally think that when she was alive, Dee was a cis girl and generally liked being feminine. when she was killed (even before she possessed the puppet), she was kinda degendered and dehumanized, simply because she was dead/missing. This wasn’t really the case with Jack and Peter, or even a lot of the people talking about her murder in general (at least at first), but Dee herself never got to see this. She was trapped at Fredbears with her killers and the people who continued to return to Fredbears even with all the controversy. This became more of a problem with the general public over time as well, because at first she was one of just a handful of kids whose deaths were treated as a tragedy. But as time went on, her individuality (and the individuality of every other victim) was erased by the shear volume of dead and missing children associated with Freddys/Fredbears.

Dee possessing the Puppet was also a major factor in how her gender was perceived. Throughout the series (mostly in DSaF 1 and 2, and some in DSaF 3 by Henry and Dave), the Puppet is often referred to as “it” or “he”, even by characters like Jack, Dave, and Henry, who KNOW at least on some level that the spirit possessing the Puppet is female. Every character has their reasons for this I think. Most Freddy’s customers and staff obviously don’t know that the puppet is possessed by a girl, and the Puppets design is pretty neutral so most people would just default to “it” or “he” cuz #maledefaultism.

Peter doesn’t know that his sister is possessing the Puppet, and even if he did at some point he wouldn’t even know who she is by the time we meet him in DSaF 2 because his memory got rewritten at the factory. Henry frankly just didn’t care enough about Dee as a person to gender her correctly (at least after she possessed the Puppet) because he just saw her as another one of his “creations”. Dave was more compassionate towards her at the time of her death, but over time (especially after his soul split), Dee just became one of the dozens of victims he took over the years, and the Puppet just became one of the dozens of haunted animatronics he dealt with daily. Even Flipside Dave could hardly even remember which soul had possessed the Puppet.

Jack is a little more complicated. The most likely actual explanation for him referring to the puppet with masc terms (he, it, puppetman) in DSaF 2 is because Dogman hadn’t fleshed out Dee’s character a whole lot and hadn’t decided that she was going to be a girl. Doggo has made a lot of DSaF development posts over the years, so idk if this has been confirmed. I’m mostly interested in analyzing the actual in universe world here, so I’m not really taking development into account, just thought I’d mention it.

In universe, I think the reason Jack misgenders the Puppet is because he doesn’t really see the Puppet as his sister. Like on some level he knows Dee is possessing the Puppet, but doesn’t really see the Puppet itself as Dee. It’s just something that she communicates and acts through. A vessel. He probably sees the other animatronics this way too. I don’t necessarily blame Jack for this. The animatronics are very nonhuman and it’s easy to see how someone could separate a possessed animatronic from the spirit possessing it, especially with the context of the actual souls often residing in the Flipside/Happiest Day. I’ll note that I’m also referring to the animatronics as “it” here because they are to an extent their own separate entities. Jack probably had a lot of time to reflect and learn to humanize the victims of Freddy’s in the time between DSaF 2 and 3, which is why he refers to the Puppet as “she” in DSaF 3.

However, if we take a step back and look at all of this from Dee’s perspective, being constantly misgendered was probably incredibly distressing for her, as it is for a lot of people. Of course the whole “being brutally fucking murdered and trapped in a marionette by her killers” was probably the thing that was bothering her the most. But the slow creeping realization that people, including her own family AND murderers, were forgetting who she was and even that she was a girl was probably something that horrified her more and more over the years.

Dee is cis in the sense that she never questioned her assigned gender, and transfem in the sense that her vessel was perceived as male or genderless after she died, leading to years of gender dysphoria and dehumanization after she died. I can even imagine her attempting some form of transition in the Flipside, trying to customize her form to look more feminine, both for her own self confidence and as and indicator that she was a girl/woman for other souls and beings that resided there.

She’s also aroace-spec because I said so.

Okay! Some completely random headcanons for ya!!

* Jack has a massive sweet tooth and is a big fan of cake and fruit flavored candy. His favorites are orange and grape, but he's also partial to green apple. (Mmm)

* Dave used to have six nipples, but all of them have been lost in various ways except for one, which he stapled onto himself.

* Jack and Dave both think the other is their "girl".

* Jack can't manage to say "I love you", or really anything he means, but he does show his affection by taking care of Dave, especially by helping him brush and cut his hair and clipping his nails.

* Dave is obsessed with the idea of impressing Jack and is constantly trying to give him random things, like a crow.

* Dave has pica and lowkey is eating the asbestos and insulation inside of walls.

* Dave, much like a hamster or a rat, has to gnaw on hard stuff to wear out his teeth, or they'll grow weirdly.

* In the height of their relationship, Jack and Dave got married unoffically at least twice a year, and enjoyed "honeymooning" all across America. Who wore the dress got switched up every time.

* Davesport love to take a niiice big draw of their cigs and horribly shotgun it with eachother.

* Jack, courtsey of his wonderful VA, has a handsome and deep singing voice. He uses it rarely, but does know a couple of lullabies thanks to Dee. Sometimes he sings a panicking Dave to sleep.

* Davesport play drinking games while they watch shitty reality television. They would love wife swap.

anyways headcanon time

Dave and Jack both wear wigs in dsaf 1 and 2. Jack made sure he got a decent quality one but daves is very obviously bad. like worse than a dollar store halloween wig.

He taped a cassette player to the top of it and that's why he has a theme song. Its just the top of his fuckin head playing that. And the cassette only has variations of the song.
