oh god. the way that dave doesn't let anyone walk behind him when he feels threatened by them and it most likely originates from henry threatening + harming him in dsaftales

the way henry thinks he's an idiot but dave sees the world in him

the way he named himself after his deceased son to have some semblance of a family relationship with him

the way he couldn't believe that henry was a bad person despite being one of the people he's hurt badly

the way dave sees him as the father he never had. and just like what henry's own father did, he casts him aside

the way that dave eventually stands up against the man who abused him for decades. powerful writing

Hello everyone I am bored and wish to retouch a ramble I made about DSAF way back when I was on quotev.

So I myself talked about one small reappearing detail about Dave. Dave is always referred to as being heartless, which I find.. odd. Although yes, he did murder children, that is pretty heartless, I think he's actually the most empathetic of Everyone. Being heartless implies you are apathetic and a sociopath, but the thing is, Dave isn't. He cares alot about those close to him such as jack and Henry, who easily threw him away but honestly he still sorta cared about them.

Dave also is seen to be very expressive, and sometimes almost emotional. Although Dave made some terrible life (and death) choices, I dont think he's really a bad guy. More of just- with the wrong people at the wrong time.

anyway, i'm lifting this from my twitter and putting it here

ramble in three, two, one...

i wonder why jack isn't as utilized for romance like this? because

1. in the evil route, he just throws dave aside for his own "justice". is that not romantic

2. it's the only time dave outright says that he loves jack. IS THAT NOT ROMANTIC

3. HE MURDERS HIM GRUESOMELY... IS THAT NOT ROMANTIC...

i only ever see dave being written/portrayed as a toxic person but simultaneously, what of evil route jack? the man who pretended to love the person who killed himself and his family? the man who desperately craves for revenge but had to bide his time and wait until the right moment? who destroyed the most important promise he made, went back on what his soul wanted him to do, and did it all for revenge and greed?

what of the man who parallels henry, for better and for worse?

anyway, those are my two cents on it
