i SO love the sound effect for the flashbacks to chikane bloody and masked
ANOTHER HIMEKO RESOLVE FACE I LOVE IT
because this cycle is so irregular you never even realise how everything was supposed to go
but really they should have broken the seal the moment of the eclipse and done battle right then and there with all the orochi that are busy destroying everything i guess
what i don’t get is why the solar priestess could only empower another, while the lunar priestess could only reach for decidely her LUNAR power by becoming orochi
so chikane absorbs all of the others’ despair. damn. so she ascends to super orochi, while himeko summons the Ame no Murakumo
OH MY GOD THEY EVEN LET SOUMA ACKNOWLEDGE THAT HE UNDERESTIMATED HIMEKO AND HER POWER, THAT HE WAS ARRONGANT AND THOUGHT OF HER AS WEAK. I FUCKING LOVE THIS. AND THEY’RE LIKE: Yeah everybody gives each other power. AND!!! they decide together what to do. I FUCKIN! LOVE ! THIS ROMANCE STORY WHICH IS NOT GONNA BE ENDGAME

I COMPLETELY forgot that Chikane actually comes back...god they’re so sweet together. the narration by himeko about the dream-like state of this sequence is perfect.
I just realised that Himeko get so super upset about Chikane leaving - and not the pain she was dealt - because she has to spend eternities in COMPLETE solitary confinement every cycle.
why did Chikane do this i still wonder. she cares for Himeko in every way, gives her and herself one last time to be together in peace, and then she asks her whether she loves her and was lonely without her. the answer is twice yes. this doesn’t seem to faze her at all! if she believes himeko to be better off without her, wouldn’t that answer faze her?? then she challenges her to the duel to the death in a devastating emotional blow - that at face value could be simple orochi cruelty - but we know that it must be something else namely a provocation. convincing her she is after all the devil. did it have a double purpose? a final goodbye AND a devastating emotional blow to provoke Himeko?
It’s pretty cool how they merged devil and angel chikane here kinda. ( in himeko’s words)
