Description of Process
I feel my form meets the requirements of the brief and complements the final from project one. The form uses linear sections to create the illusion of curvature. This goes well with my last shape as I tired to create a form that had both. I came to this final design by using solid works. I realized that the curvature would not work with stacking and chose to do an illusion of curvature instead. This would make it easier to have a shape inside too.
Using Solidworks and illustrator I was able to section my form and use the laser cutter to translate that into a physical 3d form. The form goes towards the metaphor ‘Party Light’ because of the way the shape has to be moved at the right angle to catch the light and create the curved form inside. I believe the form fits well with the final form from project one because it follows the same style, curvature and linear. The form's pattern comes from the sections as it would cloud over and lose the inside shape effect from etching. If had the chance to repeat this assignment I think I would not do such a simplistic shape, I like the way my shape looks but it seems very basic.
