my mum just asked me if there was a new boyfriend on the scene and I had this horrible moment of fear because im dating a woman now and I like her so much and I don't want to hide her and I don't know how long I can keep pretending to be straight but on the other hand my family is super homophobic and I keep having this nightmare that my Dad carves "Dyke" into my arm with a steak knife and I honestly fear for my life a little bit but maybe im overreacting
and I hate this shitty dilemma
gonna start tagging all my Dumbledore stuff with DumbleDO NOT COUNT ME AS REPRESENTATION
today my brother announced me by going "Shes here! Shes queer! get used to it!" and I said "YES!" am I "out" to my family like at this point I honestly don't know and am afraid to ask
its weird, I really love my Dad but then he just comes out with the most ridiculous homophobic and transphobic things, and I just feel so scared of him and what he thinks. I wonder if, if he knew I was a polyamorous bisexual in love with two women, he wouldn't think all too highly of me.
Something you do does not negate something you are.
My friend at our weekly Ace meetup, when talking about the absurdity of saying someone’s sexual or romantic history defines the orientation they’re “allowed” to identify as (an ace in a sexual relationship, a bisexual in a hetero relationship, etc.)
okay so I always get the Pink Cupid Lesbian Dating website advertisement thing on my facebook and everytime it makes me laugh because the title is MEET GENUINE LESBIANS like you can tell by the stamp on the bottom whether they are genuine or, as happens far too often, a very cleverly made FAKE lesbian. Genuine lesbians always bring far more money at auction.
wow, thanks for the long answer to my ask! specifically for being so nice about it, even though, as I'm very well aware, it contained offensive implications. what you said was really helpful, but I'm still not sure I entirely understand though. but maybe that's okay - I don't understand people who define as 100% straight or only get off on hardcore s/m either. but as long as everyone's happy with what they are, and no one gets hurt - great! do (or don't do) whatever feels right to you :)
Exactly! To each their own! :D I do want you to know too that I didn’t think you were being offensive at all, but that I think it’s also really important for people to understand *why* some of the things they say are offensive. And also to know that to some extent, asexuals are just as confused & bemused by the idea of sexual attraction as allosexuals are by the idea of not feeling sexual attraction :)
