my favorite things i watched in 2020 (in no particular order) -

down to earth with zac efron (netflix)

all these thirsty, shirtless gifs of Zac Efron from his new Netflix show, but nobody’s done the part yet where the one guy goes “whenever I go to a new country I like to get outside and feel the earth,” and Zac Efron thinks about that for a second and then just says “pushups?”

I'm watching down to earth w zac efron and it's good and fun and all but the third episode where they're in Costa Rica? REEKS of colonialism and white savior complexes. There's an important part that talks abt the wildlife that I enjoyed but it focused on white Americans who moved to Costa Rica and the only poc are shown to be serving them by like driving the boats. I'm esp put off by the white guy basically in charge(I didn't bother to learn his name but he acted like a white savior). The indigenous people know more abt their environment and the negative impacts by modern life than these ppl ever could. I'm hoping the rest of the series either speaks to indigenous people more or the next season does if this one doesn't cause that episode made me very uncomfortable and I've seen it made others uncomfortable too
