Sunmi groans as she lifts a gasoline container in each hand, trying to ignore the repetitive crunch of the snow under her boots. The sunlight that filters through the trees is orange, and nearly level with her eyes. She tries to be patient when she thinks of the reason she’s doing this at dusk. It’s hard to be mad that someone got into a fatal accident on the road--but damn, does she wish it hadn’t happened, so she’d be sitting warm and cozy in the lodge right now.
The blonde looks over her shoulder at her footprints in the snow. There are two sets, because she’s already made this trip once to drop her things off on the front porch. She wishes there were more--that someone was with her, at least to talk to. It feels lonely, and a little bit creepy. As much as she loves nature (that’s the point of a mountain lodge getaway weekend, right?), she respects the very real possibility of danger that comes with it.
The trip is long but uneventful. She comes back to the lift stretching her arms over her head with a sigh. Just the groceries inside left to haul up. But she’s tired and she sits on the bench to the side of the door, taking out her phone and opening KakaoTalk, scrolling to try to find when everyone in the group chat had said they would be arriving.
