so I recently asked a question over on r/kemetic, worrying over doing something wrong in regards to Wep Ronpet (the Kemetic new year), and I got told something that I think is kind of profound, at least for my fellow Kemetic polytheists:
This was about my heart being in the right place, and, coming from a religion where, at least where I grew up, it is all about actions and being as perfect as possible as opposed to the heart, and that I've always felt out of place for disagreeing with, this really hit home. I love the Netjeru and I love this religion (amongst the other gods I love and practices I practice, of course), and that is truly the biggest thing in paganism. There is no pagan bible, no set of commandments or list of other rules. Paganism, regardless of the tradition, is all about your heart. These gods are not human in the sense of you or I, and yet they are distinctly human in other ways. The gods love their worshipers, and they love the people who love them. The gods are reflections of us as a species, and they absolutely know and love that.
The gods care about our hearts. Not how many crystals or herbs or authentic cones of incense we handmake. Not if we complete rituals in the most historically accurate way, or even if we do massive, physical rituals at all. The gods are here. The gods love us. And if we love them, that is all that matters.
