100 years ago today, the 60th Street Tunnel and the Montague Street Tunnel opened to train service, fully completing the BMT Broadway Line after three years of opening in phases starting from 1917 as a part of the Dual Contracts. Here are the R160s and R46s in modern day at 59th Street and Whitehall Street (the start points of the tunnels respectively). Note that Whitehall Street opened in 1918 and 59th Street the following year before the tunnels opened.
