Vail 3d print No 2!
I needed to brush up my 3d modeling skills, so I used a couple techniques in Blender to come up with this nice decoration! It could have come out better, but it got me back on the horse in terms of modeling! Really happy to have this come out and be displayed on my shelves. The little spheres here are items in the Game(Vail Vr) that you need to interact with in order to plant the bomb in a search and destroy-esque game mode! They have a gradient between light and dark blue in game, and I should have designed it with more alternating colors between light and dark blue, but I need to think a bit more on how to do that seamlessly with the techniques I'm using. So, for now, I just made the spheres wide alternating prints between the cyan and dark blue. The Text itself was made in geometry nodes taking advantage of a displacement on the circuitry pattern, along with a cube boolean to seperate the colors from eachother for dual extruding.

Perseverance e-sports!!
Woops I joined an e sports team! XD I got spotted for a new team that's competitively playing Vail Vr!!! That's my explanation for my hiatus, I've been grinding on Vail, practically the ONLY game I play now.. We've had a lot of fun playing together and I can't wait to see where we go. We're losing at the moment, but each match we have lets me learn a lot about different play styles. I'll still be posting, just got to get back into the swing of things!

Duck!!
Today's post, another duck! This little guy was accidentally printed at half speed because I was a klutz right before vacation. It honestly came out pretty good though! There is a lot less under-extrusion in this multi color print which leads me to believe that the under-extrusion issues I'm coming across are related to the high speed flat areas that are in the larger prints.. I'll have to experiment around with the speeds or flow to see if I can't fix that..

Superhero Landing
I managed to snag a pretty good picture of a chipmunk in my back yard doing what looked like a superhero landing on a piece of quartz XD Here's the resulting print from that pic! You can clearly see some issues with the gold extruding, resulting in many spaces in between lines. Thee are caused by improper retraction settings. Switching from Cura to Prusa slicer to create these 3d prints has been a great tool, but I'm struggling to find what settings equate to what I'm used to in Cura. My next multicolor print failed due to these poor retraction settings. The filament would be pulled up too far, cool down, be pulled forward, heat up, and repeat until the tip of the filament in the printer expanded into a hard blob and failed to extrude anything else. I can't wait to get this profile for these multicolor prints dialed IN. They're getting easier to handle, and I'm getting a feeling for the cool artistic choices I'm able to make when it comes to making colors pop in these things! Can't wait for more!!

Begleri Revival!!
It may not look like much, but I'm finally reviving my begleri prints!! Below are the type of basic begleri's that I got quite good at making before. I did what I could with what hardware I had at the time, but now, It's time to take it to the next level! Pictured above is my first dual extrusion, single piece begleri bead. The process of making these before entailed printing the two halves and gluing some metal inside of the two halves before gluing those halves together. I ended up remaking the internals of these beads so that it is able to print in one piece, while also having some sick texture on them!!! These ones are printed one and done, no glue necessary! They still have metal inside for weight as well! The downside? My old begleri beads took 40 minutes to print. The new dual extrusion ones? Two hours and forty minutes!!! Wild! Worth it though.. I just have to perfect a bit of post processing to make them look a bit more sleek instead of muddied. These things helped me through so many years of anxiety, and boredom. They aren't some basic low iq fidget toy like fidget spinners either XD I have to dunk on fidget spinners... They're just, so boring!!! If you don't know what begleri are, check out this awesome video by Kuma films that actually got me into begleri in the first place! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yZC1inesPY
