✨This du'a (prayer) is actually a portion of a verse from the Qur'an (Surahtul Qasas, or the Chapter of Stories). This translation does not do it justice; its structure and diction conveys the sense of desperate need and coming to God with empty hands. It is the prayer that Moses made when he fled Egypt, and being completely alone, he was in desperate need of help. ✨Many people also refer to this as the “marriage” prayer because in the story told in the Qur'an, after Moses made this prayer he ran into two women who needed to water their flock of sheep; he helped them and one of them ended up becoming his wife. ✨But it doesn’t JUST have to be a marriage prayer - the beauty of the Qur'an is that its verses are timeless and flexibly relevant.
