⏰ *One Less Day*
"When we understand that each day isn't one more day, but one less, we start giving more value to what truly matters..."
Many of us view each new day as an addition to our lives—a day gained, a day added to our plans and ambitions. But the reality is that with every sunrise, we are not merely gaining another day; we are also moving one day closer to our meeting with Allâh ﷻ.
Each day that passes is a portion of our life that will never return.
✍️ Al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī رحمه الله said:
“O son of Ādam, you are but a collection of days. Whenever a day passes, a part of you passes away.”
This realization is not meant to make us despair but rather to motivate us to make better use of the time Allâh ﷻ has granted us.
Time is among the greatest blessings, yet it is often the blessing most easily wasted.
Allâh ﷻ says:
﴿وَالْعَصْرِ إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ﴾
"By time. Indeed, mankind is in loss."
~ Surah Al-'Asr (103:1-2)
Forwarded as received.
We bloom, we serve, we return to Allah.May Allah make us a source of benefit to His creation and grant us a lasting legacy of goodness.
The believer seeks truth because they worship the One who is Al-Haqq.
May Allah, guide us to truthfulness in speech and action, and keep us away from lying and deception. Aameen.
Wealth, status, possessions, and comfort can come and go, but the greatest fear of a wise believer is losing their connection with Allah.
• Money can be lost.
• Jobs can end.
• People and possessions can leave.
• Health and youth eventually fade.
A wise Muslim knows that all these things are temporary and were never meant to last forever.
• The real loss is when the heart becomes distant from Allah.
• When a person stops praying sincerely.
• When sins become normal.
• When the Qur'an no longer affects the heart.
• When remembrance of Allah becomes rare.
This is a far greater loss than losing wealth or status because closeness to Allah is the source of true peace, guidance, and success in both this life and the Hereafter.
Allah says:
“Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.” —
Al-Qur'an | Surah Ar-Ra'd 13:28
A believer may lose money and still be rich with Allah. But if they gain the whole world while losing their relationship with Allah, they have lost what matters most.
Ask yourself: If I lost my wealth, I would notice immediately. But would I notice if my heart became distant from Allah? The wise believer worries more about the second loss than the first.
A believer understands that nothing happens without Allah's wisdom. When difficulties come, instead of only focusing on "Why me?", they try to reflect:
• Is Allah teaching me patience?
• Is Allah bringing me closer to Him?
• Is Allah reminding me to make more duʿāʾ?
• Is Allah purifying my sins?
• Is Allah protecting me from something worse?
• Is Allah strengthening my faith and character?
The question changes from complaining about the test to learning from the test.
Allah says:
"Perhaps you dislike something which is good for you and like something which is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know." —
Al-Qur'an
This verse reminds us that Allah's wisdom is greater than our understanding.
Imagine you lose a job, fail an exam, or face a disappointment.
Instead of only saying:
"Why did Allah do this to me?"
A believer also asks:
"What lesson is Allah teaching me?"
Maybe it teaches:
• Patience (ṣabr)
• Reliance upon Allah (tawakkul)
• Gratitude
• Humility
• Repentance
• Perseverance
Remember that every circumstance in life carries a lesson, wisdom, or hidden mercy from Allah.
A wise believer sees every hardship as a classroom, every test as a lesson, and every decree of Allah as part of a greater wisdom that may not be visible today but will become clear one day.
A believer is not sinless; a believer keeps returning to Allah.
