UAE Car Rental Industry Embraces Digital Transformation with Smart Mobility Solutions
The UAE’s car rental and mobility sector is entering a new digital era as leading rental providers adopt advanced technology to enhance customer convenience and operational efficiency.
At the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, Thrifty UAE unveiled its new smart mobility platform, featuring self-service kiosks, digital booking systems, and on-demand car delivery. The initiative aims to transform traditional car rental models into fast, contactless, and customer-friendly mobility solutions.
The company plans to expand to over 100 smart rental touchpoints across the UAE within the next 18 to 24 months, targeting key locations such as airports, metro stations, shopping malls, and residential communities.
A Shift Toward Smart Rentals
The new system allows customers to:
Book a vehicle digitally via mobile or kiosk.
Verify identity instantly through automated digital checks.
Receive vehicles at preferred locations within 1–3 hours.
Manage extensions or returns online without visiting a branch.
This transformation reflects the UAE’s broader vision of becoming a global hub for digital innovation and smart mobility. It aligns with government initiatives supporting sustainability, electric vehicles, and contactless service experiences.
According to data from Mordor Intelligence, the UAE’s car rental market is expected to reach USD 2.1 billion by 2028, driven by increasing tourism, business travel, and flexible mobility demands from residents and expatriates.
Industry experts note that tourists increasingly prefer app-based rentals for short stays, while residents value subscription-based or pay-per-hour models. This shift is encouraging local companies to invest in automation, fleet tracking, and AI-powered management systems to remain competitive.
A senior mobility consultant at ATM 2025 commented:
“Digital-first car rental models are redefining urban mobility in the UAE. The focus is now on seamless access, minimal paperwork, and sustainability — not just vehicle ownership.”
As tourism surges and digital convenience becomes the new standard, Dubai car rental companies are poised for rapid growth. The shift to smart mobility solutions promises not only improved customer experience but also a greener, more efficient transportation ecosystem.
