Visit this enormous seven-storey building and you will be amazed at the array of sophisticated machinery that goes into making Ireland’s favourite tipple. According to some die-hards, you can actually live on this nectar of the gods and nothing else.

Dublin City Gallery is an essential attraction on any holidays in Dublin, and the centrepiece for most visitors is Bacon’s Studio, a place to celebrate the life, art, and memory of Francis Bacon, one of the 20th century’s iconic artists.

See the Book of Kells in Trinity College Library. This, one of the world’s most magnificently decorated manuscripts, was produced around 800 AD by Irish monks, and was only rediscovered in 1653 after being buried for centuries. Even though it was the time of the Viking migrations and raids, thanks to the monks, we are now able to enjoy its incredibly rich and colourful decorations, as clear now as when they were created.
