Holidays Packages for Dublin, Ireland - Bargain Late Holidays
Dublin holidays allow you to experience the soul of the Irish people, fun loving but idealistic, essentially religious but jealous of their freedom and free at expressing it. Treat them well and they will be your friends for life.
On holidays to Dublin, there are plenty of things to do, from pub and museum crawling to exploring the beautiful countryside and picturesque castles. Dubliners are the friendliest people on the planet; it seems they have all kissed the Blarney Stone and you will never feel alone or friendless in Dublin.
Dublin castle is a premier tourist attraction, and holidays in Dublin should start here, in the centre of the old city. The name of the city itself comes from ‘Dubh Linn’, the ancient Black Pool that used to be at the site of the present castle garden. You can catch a glimpse of the later Viking fort that used to stand here. Parts of the castle itself are open to visitors and are used for state occasions, but a walk in the magnificent gardens is often enough if you are not too interested in stately homes.
The Guinness Storehouse is a place of pilgrimage for all Guinness enthusiasts. The ‘black stuff’ was invented here in 1759 and has ironically been bestowing a divine light on humanity ever since. Visit this enormous seven-storey building and you will be amazed at the array of sophisticated machinery that goes into making Ireland’s favourite tipple. According to some die-hards, you can actually live on this nectar of the gods and nothing else.
The Dublin Tourism Information Centre has all you need to point you in the right direction whatever you are interested in. Come here to pick up free leaflets and receive advice on how to get the most out of your holidays in Dublin. They will advise you on the best restaurants and bars, current concerts and exhibitions, and they have a shop packed with interesting memorabilia for purchase.
Dublin City Gallery is an essential attraction on any holidays in Dublin, and the centrepiece for most visitors is Bacon’s Studio, a place to celebrate the life, art, and memory of Francis Bacon, one of the 20th century’s iconic artists.
See the Book of Kells in Trinity College Library. This, one of the world’s most magnificently decorated manuscripts, was produced around 800 AD by Irish monks, and was only rediscovered in 1653 after being buried for centuries. Even though it was the time of the Viking migrations and raids, thanks to the monks, we are now able to enjoy its incredibly rich and colourful decorations, as clear now as when they were created.
Dublin holidays will transport you into a rich and varied world of high culture and great fun.
