i mean it’s pretty short so i don’t go into it, but they are based on hermaphroditic slugs, reproduce sexually, and probably look literally exactly the same to a human, except for how they have different colored spots
apart from the human going “i think probably male?” and then the alien going “male, if that matters to you” the story would be literally the same if the alien was trans, or a girl (i mean if he was a cis girl, his spots would be a different color.)
