The "emotional weight" that Finn is said to have carried better be in the form of a super messy breakdown/confession from Mike to Will not just about his romantic feelings, but just everything this boy has been through, and how much it has hurt to see Will continuously suffer. How watching Will's 'body' being pulled out of the quarry, Will being possessed by the Mind Flayer/Vecna, and now, going to the front lines to finally defeat Vecna, has made him realize that Mike doesn't want to lose Will again. That he CAN'T lose him again. That while Mike may be the heart of the party, Will is his heart. His sorcerer. The person that Mike sees as love of his life. And while he is scared of telling Will all this, he is TERRIFIED of what could happen if Will dies in the final fight. And that terror, combined with worry and his realized feelings, is why Mike feels he needs to tell Will his feelings before it's too late. Cue super emotional byler kiss with tears, pain, and undeniable love.

If Byler being canon is a plot twist it better be a damn good one.
