It's on Us
Went to the Loras basketball games last night, always good to support the alma mater. During one of the time outs of the women's game, the intro to Cowboys From Hell was played through the speakers. It's official, my catholic based college is more hardcore than your catholic based college.
Only a Few Days Away ...
As an incoming freshman in the fall of 2011, I was unable to go on the preseason trip to Costa Rica that year because it is something that is only open to returning players. Upon the commencement of my first preseason, all conversations consisted of "Costa Rica this" or "Costa Rica that". It sounded like an absolute blast and the experience of a lifetime. As a result, I have been looking forward to this trip for over three years now and am ecstatic to finally be able to experience the adventures and memories that come with this preseason trip.
We are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play three teams during our seven day trip to Costa Rica while also having the ability to practice every day. In order to prepare for this trip and the upcoming season, every member of the program was on their own to stay in shape and get touches on the ball or play in games multiple nights of the week up until the middle of July. For the players staying in Dubuque over the summer, we were able to organize playing sessions a few nights of the week with members of the soccer program over at the University of Dubuque. We were able to put our rivalry and differences aside in order to achieve successful training sessions to keep our skills sharp. The NCAA allows us a certain number of practices leading up to this trip and we have had them spread out from July 13th through July 30th. These have been great chances to build team chemistry and to get after it on the field and allow the competitive juices to start flowing. With the trip only a few days away, we are all anxious to get this journey started!
Peace. Love. Chum.
