Cathar Castle Peyreperthuse, in the commune of Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse (Aude - France) Thousand years ago, foothills of the oriental Pyrenées were the subject of building castles perched just to get away from enemies. Context shooting:
As I remember, at the foot of Castle Peyreperthuse, cold pinched the morning of our trip. My photographer colleague who offered me this walk had reported to me that being early risers, we could leisurely avoid paying as mere tourists and probably be the only ones on site a few hours. So could we enjoy the wild side of the place, without risk of shooting a photograph of our contemporaries in the medieval world to expect. It was not counting the presence of some scouts who had chosen to spend the night in the walled enclosure, away from the eyes of leaders who had not enjoyed the festive atmosphere that our adventurers had probably concocted before and during night in the cold and damp of March. It's hardly that some of them were able to realized our presence ... Must be assigned a talent for having the Cathar castles perched in the valleys of crossroads, in places that offer panoramas outsized. Inhospitable, the site was strategic and remains. In fair condition after centuries of neglect, most of the stone structure still stands up and offers a journey into the past with every step taken. Taking the time to get lost in the maze of the place makes you forget the present, even with high-tech equipment in the hands picture. And when to invite a mixed winter weather, an unexpected rainbow sky, a constant wind that whips you up the face, change of scenery!
