But seriously, WHERE DID THIS TREND OF NOT CALLING BOUTS COME FROM???
This is the SECOND WEEK IN A ROW where the referee on my strip (and this was two different people) has decided NOT TO CALL THE NEXT BOUT OR THE BOUT ON DECK, even though they are ENTIRELY CAPABLE and the names are RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. This is worse than using NUMBERS instead of NAMES. THAT I can tolerate. What I CANNOT tolerate is LAZY ASS REFEREES who are perfectly capable of USING THEIR OUTSIDE VOICE who decide to NOT LET US KNOW WHO IS FENCING.
The first time this happened I thought it was just the guy being a jerkass or because he’s not originally from this country, I thought it was an international thing. But this second guy was clearly an american and the only injury he had was some calf injury which he needed to use a cane for I guess??? Also, if you’re injured, and your reffing epee or foil, DON’T PUT YOUR CANE RIGHT NEXT TO THE STRIP OKAY because SOMEONE FLESCHING WILL TRIP ON IT. Specifically ME. I WILL TRIP ON IT. AND I DID!!!
This is not just me being pissy because I had a bad meet. I think a lot of us fencers would be VERY APPRECIATIVE if we could know AT ALL TIMES WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON.
