Aokise and things you said #7
things you said while we were driving
Are you sure about this? Aomine wants to ask. The question has been sitting on his lips since they entered the car, since they started making plans. The words taste bitter and he can’t seem to find the strength to spill them.
He takes a glance at the passenger seat. Kise has been unusually quiet. He hadn’t even tried to put on music - something he would always do when Aomine picks him up for a drive, solely to annoy Aomine with his favorite pop songs.
This is no regular drive, however. They’re leaving. For good.
Kise has said nothing and showed nothing in his expression for so long Aomine is starting to feel anxious. They are leaving so much behind. There’s nothing Aomine wants more than to leave, to go away with Kise and forget about everything, to go somewhere they can be together without worrying about anything else.
But he’s also afraid. Afraid for Kise and whether he is prepared to make these sacrifices. Aomine wants nothing but to be with him forever, but what if Kise come to regret this? Aomine would hate to be the reason why Kise is unhappy.
“Are you sure about this?” A quiet voice calls and Aomine jumps on his seat.
He blinks in confusion until he realizes that Kise was the one speaking.
“Are you?” He asks back, voice hoarse.
“I am,” Kise says, a familiar fire within his eyes. “I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if you weren’t.”
Aomine feels himself smiling. Each passing moment he becomes more and more sure Kise is his soulmate. This might be a reckless, risky decision, but he reaches for Kise’s hand and intertwines their fingers.
And he is. As long as they’re together, it ought to be fine.
