my friend was talking about her NOtp lyaiden (lydia/aiden) and she says she doesn’t like the ship because she doesn’t like the twins. so i asked her how she could forgive Allison and not the twins and she said ” Allison shot Boyd and Erica as a revenge against Derek after her mom died at Dereks hand(?) and Gerard manipulated her into thinking she wanted to be avenged. and how she’s not too fond of the hale pack because Peter killed her aunt. Even though she WAS a bad guy she was still a big sister figure to Allison. And she’s just been manipulated this entire time.” so then we realized we can compare her background to the twins.
in which the twins were the omegas of their pack and were constantly abused and in comes deucalion who basically gives them a way to save themselves but he also scares them. which is why they join him. and throughout the season 3a Aiden has been more vocal and more forward in doing what deucalion wants. which to me shows that Aiden was more willing to do anything for the twins to survive. because defying deucalion meant their death but then in comes the Hale-McCall pack who basically defeat their biggest threat, but the one thing that they thought was keeping them alive. so now the twins are gravitating towards the McCall pack because of that same instinct of survival and they don’t want to go back to being omegas again.
which brings us back to the topic of Lydia and i told her i didn’t mind lyaiden so much because if you compare her relationship with Jackson and stiles to Aiden, her relation ship with Aiden is better for her. because instead of pushing her to the sides Aiden is highlighting her abilities. with Jackson he always wanted to be in the spotlight she she took a backseat with her abilities. she was hesitant to let her intelligence shine through. and while her relationship with stiles has changed, stiles puts her on a pedestal and that dehumanizes her in a way. Aiden on the other hand never tries to coddle her. this entire episode(riddles) he’s literally stood behind her and hasn’t “protected” her from the front lines because he considers her CAPABLE (case in point: not leaving her in the car (like Jackson and stiles did)).
Aiden has shown a lot more characterization than Ethan has the entire season. he is a lot more vocal about his desire to survive, both by joining the McCall pack and following deucalions orders. Which would suggest that during their initial omega stage (before duecalion) Aiden was the big brother who protected Aiden as much as he could. the twins especially Aiden show the wolf characteristics of wanting to survive, preferably in a pack.
