Sophia's birthday weekend getaway - 17th May 2024
Cam organised a house for Sophia's birthday in Cape Paterson. Luan and Thai were also there with me and Matt.
We drank and played games. Cam did the most cooking. Each couple organised an activity to do. We went into town to ops shops to buy ceremics to break so we can do kintsugi. The art of sticking broken pieces together with gold. Thai and Luan showed us how to do that during the day.
Matt and I showed everyone how to make beef gyoza/dumplings which we cooked and had them as entrees.
After dinner, we play the board game ticket to ride board game while we drank.

Dumpling making
There is something cathartic and meditative about dumpling making with the family; the cool, pieces of dough-y skin, soft and delicate, transforms into delectable morsels through gentle origami. There is the idea of promise in each mound, a prophecy of a full stomach and heavy eyelids on some sleepy Sunday evening in the future. The creation embodies the wholesome, honest process of cooking without the panic and stress associated with an open fire and rumbling stomach. Sitting by the stove, the fragile pieces form in your hands to be stored in the freezer so that some other day, you take the small white pieces out, and re-live the night some other day.
