A fluffle of Dumpling Rabbits ready for tomorrow’s market!
Come say hi to us at the Autumn Equinox Halifax Brewery Market from 12-4pm (1496 Lower Water St.)
Little Dumpling Rabbits are assembled! Now they’re just waiting for their clothes to dry.
These little guys (and the regular sized rabbits) will be with me at the Homo for the Holidays market at the Halifax Brewery (12-4pm on December 10th). Come say hi!
A Dumpling Rabbit pattern is in production! For those of you who would prefer to knit your own Dumpling Rabbit than to get one pre-made, I’m working on writing up and pattern and taking progress shots for any complicated steps. It’s gonna take me a while, but I’m hoping to get it out by this fall, so watch for a tester call!
I’ve been working on a knit rabbit pattern, and am currently knitting the sample and…
The head looks like a dumpling. He looks like a dumpling rabbit. I don’t know if it’s the colour, or the position of the eyes or the ears, but he’s a dumpling rabbit. I can’t decide if he’s cute or not.
Test knit call!
It’s been a bit of chaos to get here, but the Dumpling Rabbit pattern is ready to be tested! These little buddies are knit in the round with DK weight cotton yarn, and the pieces seamed together to assemble.
The finished rabbits stands at about 28cm tall (not including the ears) and is 11cm wide at the widest point on the body - perfect for squishability!
I knit mine up with Cascade 220 Ultra Pima, but any DK weight cotton yarn will work. The sweater and pants are each made with 50 yards of any DK weight wool, so any leftovers in your stash are well suited for this project.
You can find more info on yarn and yardage, needles, pattern techniques, deadlines, etc. in the application form. Apply though the form, and if you’ve got any questions, please ask them in the notes or in the feedback form as DMs tend to get lost.
If you haven’t done a test knit before, please still apply! Beginners are always welcome, and I run very relaxed and welcoming test knits.
Please share this post with anyone who might be interested! I’d greatly appreciate it.
Surprise- it’s pattern release day!
Things have been a bit hectic around here recently, and I may have completely forgotten to say much of anything about this pattern, but the Dumpling Rabbit pattern is here now!
These little friends are small, huggable critters in cozy sweaters. The name comes from the way the head is cinched closed at the top, like a dumpling wrapper. They’re the perfect size for a desktop companion, ready buddy, or scary-appointment friend. They’re explicitly designed to make you smile, bring you comfort, and be a source of whimsy in your life.
Cascade 220 Ultra Pima is used for the body, and the sweater and pants are perfect for using up scraps of DK weight yarn in your stash! I used Alley Cat Yarns Polwarth DK for this little guy’s sweater and Midknit Cravings Comfort Sport for his pants.
You can find all the details (and the pattern, of course) on my website, Ravelry, or in my Ko-fi shop.
I always knit a second rabbit right after knitting the first. I don’t want them to be lonely! They need to have a buddy while waiting for shop updates.
Got some more colours to make more Dumpling Rabbits! I’ll use the next one to take instructive pictures for a pattern so it can go to testing soon.
