Christmas At Last by @duointherain for @doctormegalomania General, Heero/Duo, WuFei/Sally Time is a very flexible dragon.  Duo missed a Christmas party, lost an opportunity, came to a seemingly tragic end, but everything can be made right at Christmas.  Mostly Wufei POV. It was meant to be funny. I'm told it needed an angst warning.

I’ve had a pretty rough last month, so I wasn’t able to draw anything for you @duointherain. 

HOWEVER YOU ASKED FOR HEERO DECORATING A TREE AND THE BRILLIANT @azuliart DREW THIS FANTASTIC IMAGE. 

I’m sorry I couldn’t draw the things, but honestly this is such a wonderful image and you’re better off lol. And my eternal thanks to azuli for picking up my slack and being so so wonderful.

Ocean Breathes Salty

for @duointherain​ with many Happy Birthday wishes.

Pairing: 1x2

Warnings: none, really.  A bit melancholy, maybe?

It’s Heero’s birthday, insomuch as he marks the day, and Duo has left him a surprise.

Potentially fits into the Float On ‘verse, but stands fine on its own.  Read it however you wish.

Heero eyed the cheerfully wrapped packaged with distaste.

It would be from Duo, of course.  

It wasn’t like Heero had so many acquaintances, so many friends, that anyone would be sending him packages.  Certainly not to celebrate the fictitious date of birth on his government-supplied identification.  Only Duo - and, perhaps in another life, Relena - would bother.

And of course Heero had taken note of the date.  As he did every year, mentally checking off another milestone, the day otherwise unremarked upon.  

Until this year.

Until this package.

Duo was noticeably absent, probably anticipating Heero’s… ungracious attitude.

He picked the paper-wrapped box up with a sigh.  It was small - maybe the size of a coffee mug, or slightly taller - and heavier than he expected. Heero turned it over in his hands, examining the perfectly creased ends, weighing it mentally and physically, before he started picking at the tape.

Duo wouldn’t have given him a coffee mug.  Heero didn’t even drink coffee.

But he couldn’t imagine what it was, either.

The last of the shiny blue paper fell away, revealing a plain cardboard box, and Heero barely repressed another sigh.

He hoped it wasn’t one of those box within a box within a box things.  It wouldn’t have been out of character for the man, the boy, Duo had been, years ago, though it was a bit over the top for the quieter, less manic version Heero had come to know.

Slicing through the tape at the top of the box, he upended the contents into his hand, and out of the plain cardboard slid a state-of-the art camera lens, one he’d been contemplating online for months, weighing the pros and cons, and each time been unable to justify the expense.  He looked it over critically, noticing it had all of the specs of the exact model he’d been considering.

Heero snorted a laugh, reaching for the ever-present camera nearby, snapping the lens into place.  There wasn’t much, in their room, to photograph, but he found one or two things.

Their backpacks, leaning against one another by the door.

Duo’s journal, worn and faded, sitting on the nightstand.

“Is it alright?”

Heero looked up, startled, to find Duo leaning against the doorframe, looking anxious and unsure.  He stood, camera still in hand, to meet him.

“It’s perfect,” he answered, stepping into the taller man’s personal space, reaching to still the fingers that were picking at the hem of his tshirt.  “Thank you.”

He leaned in, felt the brush of lips against his own, enjoyed the contact for what it was - kisses that were still new, intimacy he wasn’t yet quite accustomed to, but enjoyed. He felt Duo’s hand trail down his arm, lifting the hand still holding the camera, but none of it registered until he heard the click of the shutter.

He leaned away, looking at Duo with a raised brow, who shrugged sheepishly.

Heero couldn’t quite stop the grin that quirked his lips.

“I don’t usually celebrate the date,” he said, finally, and Duo shrugged again.  In Heero’s mind, it wasn’t real, anyway, so what was the point.  And he’d always been alone, anyway.

“I haven’t had a chance to celebrate with you, before.”

Heero hummed thoughtfully, leaning in for another kiss.

“Happy birthday to me,” he murmured against the other man’s mouth, felt lips curve up into a smile that made his own mouth twitch.

“Happy Birthday to you,” Duo agreed.
