Un aspecto que llama mucho mi atención en Taiwán está relacionado con la difundida y explotada autorepresentación fotográfica por medio de las selfies. Numerosos artefactos especializados para tomar autorretratos se encuentran por todos lados, en todos tamaños y estilos; las poses, rostros, emociones y estereotipos sobre el cómo se debe de posar ante la cámara son numerosos, mucho más que en ningún otro lugar que haya visitado. El grado de compresión sobre el acto de fotografiar llega a tal punto que incluso, los conductores de bicicletas o scooters son capaces de detener su camino por no interrumpirte mientras tomas una foto. Al tomar esta fotografía la mujer de en medio corrió rápido para no estorbarme en la toma y las dos mujeres del fondo se toman fotografías una a la otra, en un ritual muy similar a una pasarela de modas.
