I customized some of Volks' cheap plastic shoes for Dollfie Dream and neglected to take any progress pictures ;u;

Procedure:

- Trim. These are rotocast, so the thickness isn't 100% even and it can make them harder to put on. I carved the edges of the opening to a uniform thickness.

- Degloss. I sanded with 220 grit to clean up the trimmed areas and wiped the whole shoe with acetone.

- Heel reinforcement. The heels are hollow due to rotocast and I didn't trust them not to warp. I dunked the shoes in boiling water to reset their thermoplastic memory, then drilled the heels for 1/8" brass rod and backfilled with resin to make a solid core.

- Heel resculpting. I used several thin applications of epoxy clay to build up a spool shape. Doing it in layers made it easier to maintain symmetry across all four shoes.

- Painting. While these shoes come in red and black, the colored vinyl is known to stain, so I wanted a white interior for my black shoes. I masked the edges, stuffed them with tissue paper to protect the insoles, and then gave them three thin coats of Duplicolor Vinyl & Fabric. They've had 12 hours to dry and that paint is ON there, it wipes with acetone but is otherwise fused and scratch-resistant.

Otra cosa que me brincaba de Gumara, es que el "Bed Liner" de plástico no cubre las orillas de la batea, por lo que está muy desgastada esa área, así que utilicé por primera vez el recubrimiento de Duplicolor (de autozone), creo que quedó aceptablemente bien, se ve mejor y está protegido.
