Hiro and Arvin check out how the sofa will fit into their house-in-progress, the Dura Craft Farmhouse 500. Yes, my toy collection is so small that we're into unfinished projects to address @look-back-month-challenge prompt 23, pattern.
We found this kit at the Save A Pet thrift and figured we could do it in a weekend. This turned out to be one of the very early versions of the 500, with the wall slats that have to be assembled in stacks. Someone had tried to do it with hot glue, which all had to be picked out of the slots so we could do it with white glue. After swift initial progress, this dollhouse has been on the dining table for almost two years now, while we've been led astray by other projects.
It's intended for a very patterned interior, mostly in reds, from a scrapbook paper book I bought back when Joann was in business. The initial color scheme decision was driven by the red living room set, which I bought at A.C. Moore's going out of business sale.
