The Durmstrang Institute isn't very forthcoming about their location, but Edgeøya, Svalbard is home to their castle. Considered one of the more elitist schools, there is still a movement appealing for them to accept muggleborn students.
Invitations to the school are accompanied by a small, blood red zircon; many students have it embedded into their wand or staff before arriving at school. Instead of duelling, branch fighting (grenkämp) is popular at Durmstrang, with a combination of martial and magic skill.
