“Nah, that’s more than enough. You really didn’t have to go to the trouble.” The weekends were just about the only time there was any sort of action on this campus and while Keiji wouldn’t be surprised with a couple of dorm parties that had to be broken up, something about the new semester just starting and the weather being unusually warm for this time of year was apparently enough for a whole bunch of students to just party it up well into Sunday night. There were apparently enough parties that suddenly everyone in their campus security system had to come in regardless of their shift, just to take names and write all these damn incident reports. Never mind that you were still expected to come into your regular shift immediately after, which oh so luckily for Keiji, started right after he finished up his last incident report. Throw a couple of sleepless nights on top of that and it made a perfect storm.
He needed caffeine. Bad. Bad enough that this professor seemed to catch on pretty quick. And so here he was in his office, accepting a cup of instant coffee along with a granola bar to tide him over till he could take a lunch break.
“Sometimes I gotta remind myself that I’m not in my early 20s anymore, wahaha. Looks like I gotta step up my game, can’t exactly be responsible for campus safety if I’m running on fumes and all.”
