[The Rainbow Kids are just sitting in the town park and doing nothing in particular. It was the weekend and they don’t exactly have any monsters to find, so they decided to relax for a while.]

Cyan: Isn’t this park cool?

Orange: Yeah, totally.

Blue: I thought there’d be more people here since it’s Saturday.

Purple: Well, there’s nothing wrong with the quiet.

Green: Yeah, it’s kinda peaceful.

Yellow: Heh, can’t agree more.

Frisk: [curious] ...Hmm, I wonder what the Cryotis twins might be doing.

[Suddenly, said witch and warlock start flying around the park in their witch-y attire like normal. Molly is on one of her regular brooms and is flying perfectly straight, but Jack however is on a dust mop and keeps wavering up and down in his flight. The Rainbow Kids watch them both and manage to here what they’re saying.]

Molly: [enjoying herself] Ah, doesn’t feel good to feel the wind on your face, Jack?

Jack: [struggling to control the dust mop] Be quiet, Molly! I can’t get this stupid dust mop to obey me!

Molly: Well, if you didn’t insist on taking your last spare broom to the cleaner’s while the others are being repaired, you wouldn’t have to ride it.

Jack: [struggling to control the dust mop] Hush up and slow down!

Molly: [lets go of the end of her broom and crosses her arms] I don’t have to. I can control my broom, brother. [smiles smugly]

[A couple seconds later, Molly smacked face first into a tree, Jack flying past her and laughing at the irony.]

Jack: [loving this] Then you purposely ran into that tree, sister. [continues laughing]

[A couple seconds later, Jack ended up doing the same. Green goes to help the twins, the rest of the Rainbow Kids following.]

Chara: [sigh] You had to ask... [she and Frisk go with the other Rainbow Kids]

Hey, I Wanted to be in The Lap!

Our pets are always a little weird, but our cat Dust Mop has recently decided to crown herself queen of the trash pets.

Currently, my spouse and I have long hair. This is a problem for me, because I absolutely hate the feeling of anything on the back of my neck. So, I've been using hair ties, like you do.

The thing is, Dust Mop loves hair ties. They're her favorite toy and she will go to insane lengths to get them. A few months ago I'd store the ones I wasn't using around the neck of a bottle on my bedside table. That changed when she started crashing into everything and stepping on my face in order to get to them at 4AM.

So we've been playing a fun game where I find a new place to stash them, and she tracks them down and destroys everything in the area to get them back. Then, she hides them around the house and starts yowling at the top of her lungs to let me know she's won the round.

She has a specific yowl for hair ties. I can tell just by listening to her if she's currently in possession of one.

"Why don't you put them in a cabinet, or in a drawer?" you may ask. Well, I have ADHD, and if it's out of sight it might as well not exist. I keep a hair tie around my wrist at all times, but Dust Mop has started trying to pull it off when I'm not paying attention, and if she gets that one while the others are put away somewhere safe I'll never find the backups.

I managed to keep them hidden in a little dish on the back of the toilet for two blissful months, until I heard loud crashing and splashing coming from the bathroom while spouse was in a video call. I ran in to find that Dust Mop had knocked everything that was on the back of the toilet into the bowl and then made off with like ten hair ties.

I've been trying to track them down for a week. I found three, and tried to hide them on my desk, but she found them at 5:30 this morning, knocked everything onto the hardwood, and then had such a prolonged victory yowl parade that I gave up on sleep even though I'd only gotten four hours.

I'm writing this on my phone, getting ready to nap, and she's sitting in my lap, nose pressed to the tie around my wrist, huffing it deeply.

You can't have it, you little criminal.
