none of them had been sleeping well. between the train crashing, ozpin’s life being laid out for all to see, the apathy at the farm — how were they supposed to have slept properly ? not to mention there was plenty on everyone’s mind that was surely driving everyone slowly down the path of insanity.
currently, qrow is sitting in the doorway to the backyard of the cotta-arc household. eyes are focused on young boy who is sitting there with knees pulled to chest and shoulders hunched. of everyone, the huntsman knows oscar has been dealing with the most. everything kept coming back on the kid and it wasn’t right for any of them to be doing it. and he was no exception. with a sigh, he steps outside, careful to close the door before shoving hands into pockets.

It was jarring. To hear such advice first in a child’s voice, and second in a body that held a soul that would’ve said it to him years and years ago. And maybe he had said it. Qrow’s memory failed him, and his anger didn’t help recall it.
It was hard to hear, if he was being honest. Ozpin had been the first person to REALLY make Qrow feel like he belonged anywhere. And now it was Ozpin who made him feel like he belonged nowhere. That he was good for nothing.
‘I uh… Thanks, though. I guess.’

i’ve had bad experiences with this ship before, which have left a bad taste in my mouth, mostly involving forceshipping and possessive roleplayers who didn’t allow me to ship anything else when i first started writing ren. there are also some parts of the way nora’s been written this volume in relation to ren that i just don’t like, so i don’t ship them using canon portrayals alone. i have a very lovely nora to write romantic lines with, and i trust nai completely when it comes to a portrayal with consistency, so if you see any kind of r/enora content from me, it will most likely be with her.
