Quatrain II (Her song).
Your words bring a calm, like late autumn rain.
My world-weary heart, for a moment, still.
And I live lifetimes in your sweet refrain.
Like the clarity in October's chill.

before the end.
I waited so long for you.
I didn't know that my roads would be long
that the dust and heat would fill my mouth
that the stones would burn and cut my feet
I hurt for so long for you.
I didn't know that I would bleed
that my lungs would ache for peace
that my legs might carry me far beyond
I risked so much for you.
I didn't know how it would feel
beyond the familiar of my comfort zone
that I would leave the old pieces of myself
And yet, I think, every minute was worth it.
Every moment, every hurt, every step
brought me closer to you.
And when I smile,
the man in the mirror finally smiles back.

Quatrain I.
Life has but one single sting
That we must grow and move on
We spend our youth convinced we are kings
Only to age, and see our kingdoms gone.

Love, more than the space between.
Love like mountains
Made to cradle the clouds
And the sky
Laughing among the peaks
Love like the oceans
With their staggering weight
And the shore
Forever chasing the touch of the waves
Love like the snow
With quiet hope and purpose
And the sleeping trees
Whose branches write poems in the wind
-g.j.b
I miss the way you put the sun to shame
Every time that a smile would cross your face.
Just know that every time I say your name
It is just like how wild strawberries taste.
But what is a mere man against the span
Of the great wide empty space between us?
Yet the stillness you'd bring each time you sing
Is the same song that I hear in my dreams.

Quatrains IV & V
Theres a little bird on my windowsill.
Whose bright feathers I've never seen before.
In moments when I hear her heartsong trill-
I cannot help but want to hear it more.
Her heartsong is the calling of the sea-
As it rushes into the stony shore.
And it shouldn't mean anything to me.
And yet still, somehow, that was me before.

absolution.
there in her eyes
I was made.
all the secret hurt
the guilt and shame
just for a moment
Gone.
for an instant,
I was not broken
she saw me
all the sharp edges
all the broken pieces
and still
I looked into her eyes,
And there was love.

Quatrain III.
The honeybees are buzzing,
And they sing a song for her.
With the river's rapids rushing,
It's a lullaby for sure.
