Who's your best bet on who the Roaring Knight is?

Conversely, of the popular pics, who do you think is the least likely to be?

At this point there's very little doubt in my mind that it's Dess when everything in the story is pointing to her. She's the popular pick for a reason. She's the Laura Palmer-esque figure looming over the entire story. All of the facts line up, it's a rich thematic vein, and it would probably be the option that hits the hardest emotionally when the entire story is building up to a big reveal about what happened to her. The only other option really worth considering is Carol, but I think she's probably a red herring. There's a good chance she's involved, perhaps coordinating things with Kris in the Light World while Dess is stuck in the Dark World, but I don't think she's the Knight.

Anyone pitching a theory saying the Knight isn't one of the Holidays is just lost in the sauce and overthinking it. There is no fucking way it's Papyrus or whoever. Like at that point you'd have to believe that all of the evidence throughout the game so far, including the Knight literally having reindeer antlers, is pure misdirection so Toby can catch us off guard with a random reveal that came out of nowhere. And I just don't think he's that kind of writer.

At this point the real question isn't the Knight's identity, it's the specifics. Is it really Dess as everyone knew her, simply lost in the Dark World all this time, or is it some sort of grim echo of the person she once was created by the Dark World? Did Carol try to bring back her dead daughter, like how Gerson was revived in Chapter 4, and she somehow came back wrong? Is all the evidence just there to give us false hope that Dess might still be alive and well, when in reality the Knight is a shell of her former self that shouldn't exist, tying into the game's central themes of nostalgia and escapism?

I feel like a recent years have shown that fan reaction has influenced the way Sega handles Sonic in some ways. Frontiers for example in a lot of ways feels like a reaction to complain. So a lot of fans have had about mainline Sonic games.

With that said what do you think about Sega making a multi-character 3D action game Sonic and then slapping it on a platform that has some of the least amount of player reach despite being a mainline platform?

I would be very curious to know more about the development behind Dream Team for sure, but as far as I'm aware the game was more than likely made specifically for Apple Arcade from the very start with heavy involvement from Apple, rather than being a project Sega was shopping around that just so happened to end up as an Apple exclusive.

I have to assume that this game would not exist at all if it wasn't an Apple Arcade project. Hardlight is very much Sega's mobile game division first and foremost, so it's unlikely (if not impossible) that Sega would've had them working on a 3D Sonic platformer for consoles and PC when that's Sonic Team's job. And Apple Arcade's subscription revenue is basically the only home for mobile games that aren't chock full of ads, microtransactions, and wait timers these days. So while it could theoretically get ported elsewhere in the future, it's unlikely that Dream Team ever would've gotten made for any other platform.

Like, there are already two Sonic games on Apple Arcade. Sonic Racing (based off of TSR) was one of the earliest releases for the service and has always been heavily promoted as one of Apple Arcade's flagship games. Later they also did Sonic Dash+, a version of the existing endless runner game with the ads and microtransactions stripped out. I have to assume that these games have done well on Apple Arcade, and Apple simply looked at that and went "Hey, what if we got them to make us an ORIGINAL Sonic game?" Apple Arcade also appeals pretty heavily to parents who want their kids to have something to play on their iPads that isn't cram full of microtransactions, and Sonic remains extremely popular with kids.

But beyond that, why they landed on a full 3D platformer with SIX playable characters, some amount of story, and a new style of level design that takes some influence from skate parks? Who knows. Maybe some folks at Sega Hardlight were just dying to make something like that, and the Apple gig was their opportunity to make it happen after so many years being stuck working on glorified Skinner boxes. Or maybe Apple thought a 3D platformer would be good to diversify their portfolio. Again, I'd be very curious to learn more

(Also, honestly, as annoyed as I am that I have to play Dream Team on my iPad instead of my PC or a console, I do find the talking point that "no one will be able to play it" extremely silly. There are billions of iPhones, iPads, Mac computers, and to a lesser extent Apple TVs out there. Billions. With a B. Apple Arcade reportedly had over 100 million users last year. That's quadruple the number of subscribers Game Pass had, even though if you asked the average gamer they'd probably assume Game Pass was the more popular one! Exclusivity is always frustrating, and I sympathize with folks annoyed that they don't have any devices that can play it, but the fandom deciding that "only six people will be able to play this" is completely divorced from reality.)

So one day, I was having a relaxing 9/11, chillin' out, maxin', relaxin' all cool, contemplating signing up for local art school, when a couple of dudes who had rumors to seed, started making trouble in my twitter feed:

Basically this dude keeps trying to make the argument that object permanence is ablest. This argument gets circular. But then! A twist!

Anyway, yadda yadda yadda, Rich Burlew is ablest because he doesn’t like people harassing him on his forums and he’s super problematic and cancelled and I’m cancelled too by proxy.

pewdiepie is a bad person, and a bad thing happened to him. is funny!

You know, I used to think Pewdiepie was a bad person too, because a bunch of people who either don’t like him or don’t watch him told me so. That time a bunch of SA goons did a compilation where they all facepalmed over his early videos? I fell for it.

Then I started watching him and realized how greatly exaggerated his awfulness was by the media, and began to think it was probably the work of a lot of those same goons who are no doubt bitter that he made a bunch of money doing Let’s Plays when they didn’t. I watched a lot of videos where he explained himself, and you know what I saw?

I saw myself on a much larger scale. I saw every single person who has held something against me for petty reasons and has decided to exaggerate my mistakes and use them against me because they did not get the clout I had by making something. I saw how many YouTubers of all different stripes had respect for the guy, and the only people who really, really hated him were all people that I found insufferable, and very similar to the kinds of people who did shit like email my boss and try to get me fired by calling me a child predator. I saw every single person who refused to accept the same apologies I would make a million times over because it was more important to them that I stay a bad person, rather than admit that they were wrong, and I saw a mainstream media who have been jonesing for a figure that the kids like that can be blamed for the moral degradation of society, like they had when I was a kid with people like Marilyn Manson, Eminem, and Tom Green. Pewdiepie is earnest and upfront about his fuck-ups. I cannot say that for the kinds of people who went out of their way to defame him.

And now I enjoy his content.

I mean what said though, looking at their, her and now your side if the story it sure seems like you relied a lot on him "getting the hint" over actually saying you had a problem. That doesn't make things that they did ok, but it does make all these "implications" seem extra petty. I should have been off anon and I apologise for any confusion.
