Long ride
So this morning I started on a ride. I knew it was going to be hot, but it turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far, and the hottest May ever recorded... so far.
I didn't have a plan per se, just a direction, and that was a pub run by a man who I've known for over half my life and consider a brother. No idea if I actually had the energy to make the full trip, but eh, why not. Waste of a perfect riding day otherwise.
What can I say, I'm still coming down from it. I made it all the way to Tottenham, before discovering it was a football match day. But I got to see my bro for first time in years, even if only briefly.
The ride back was longer than expected due to accidents on the road, but it also provided a perfect environment for me to practice filtering through traffic.
And I also forgot to put my snood back on. I can feel the sun's burning caress on the back of my neck still.
The best part was riding through Epping Forest, and Waze sending me up and down country lanes to bypass traffic (though I don't think it did much good). Oh it was heaven.
In the end I did about 150 miles in just under 5 hours total. For a newbie, that feels like a lot, and even now I'm still utterly exhausted. So worth it though, absolutely. One other bonus is I finally got to use my 360 cam, at least for half the journey. Editing the footage now to maybe do a few clips.
