Anthony grumbled to himself as he had just argued with his manager. He had promised to pick Dino up but he wasn't allowed to leave work for another two hours. Hopefully, Hiba could pick him up. [Text] Hi, Hiba, sorry to text you like this but could you pick up my cousin at school today? I promised to drive him to his soccer practice but my douchey boss refuses to let me leave for another two hours...[/text]

Oh, his lover had such impeccable timing. Hibari had just slammed his car door shut, about to lock it to head inside for some well-needed rest when the message alert caused him to pause and pick his phone up. It should have been his one free evening off but—

Staring the screen down, he fought the urge to sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose lightly. “Of all days…” He muttered, but shook his head to his own thought, quickly typing a response.

[Text (sent 16:25)]: Fine. I’ll do it. Where and when? Also, you owe me. Big time. 

Getting back to his car again, he sighed once more before starting the engine. He hoped it wasn’t too urgent, since traffic could be a hassle, but knowing Dino— 

Well, if he was late already, he wouldn’t be surprised.

[text (sent 06:50)]: Dinner? Well, I don’t have work, but it all depends on what time you were thinking. I won’t make promises.

Anthony frowned again, resisting the urge to sigh once more. His class ended in fifteen minutes… but he couldn’t make it to lunch…

[Text (sent: 10.21)]: I can’t then. My shift starts 12.30. I’m sorry. 

He really didn’t like the times they missed each other because of work, Anthony had to work to make sure he’d stay in school since his parents refused to help him with the economical part of his studies.

This time the reply took a moment longer, which indicated one of either two things. 1, Dino had been caught by whatever professor whose class he was attending, or 2, he was hesitant to reply.

If it was the latter, then— He paused, writing the last note down before pulling his phone out, frowning briefly at the screen. As he'd suspected, then. Not to say it wasn't commonplace, but—

It was curt, he knew, but really; what more could he say? It was, and there really was nothing to do about it. Not that he wasn't expecting a good bit of whining about it, though.

Anthony sighed heavily as he sat in class. It was a boring class, with things he already knew and the teacher hated him so he leaned back in his chair and fished up his phone to send a text to his boyfriend. [Text] To Hiba: Hi, love. How are you?

Taking down a few notes from the whiteboard regarding crisis management in hostage situations — because clearly such a thing was more easily learnt from slides and paperwork than actual experience — Hibari only allowed a slight frown to cross his expression as the telltale sound of his phone vibrating against the desk reached his ears. Not only his, though, since a few heads turned his way.

Giving them a nonchalant, deadpan expression, he simply picked the phone up and scanned the message without unlocking it, then sighed, softly.

[text (sent 10:17)]: Next time you text me in class without explicit permission, I’ll castrate you.

He was tempted to leave it at that, thumb lightly hovering over the “send” button, but eventually he resigned with another quiet sigh, briefly looking up to ensure he missed nothing in terms of information in class, before continuing.

I’m bored out of my skull. You’re not helping. If you don’t intend to rectify that, don’t disturb me any more.

Inordinately pleased with himself — for some reason; it was difficult to pinpoint why — he then pocketed the phone (to reduce noise in case the blond would reply) before continuing to copy down notes.
