a short analysis of 16 year old Hirato and Tsukitachi based on Score 63
11 years ago, Hirato and Tsukitachi are newbies in Circus at 16 years old and are sent on the rescue mission at Rimuhakka which had been destroyed by Valga. They get mocked by their seniors who are jealous of them going on such a high level mission even before graduation.
In response to his glasses being pushed off, Hirato says: In a world where people use power to speak, what can I feel about about them...? (doesn't get bothered by others comments) while Tsukitachi goes: Hirato, ikemen~
When their group reaches their destination, the seniors say that the newbies will bring them down while saying that finding a royal would be something great. Tsukitachi speaks very nicely to them but they don't listen, so the two of them separate from their group before saying: No matter where we go, our goal is to rescue! It's the same anyway! Meanwhile, Tsukitachi comments that they went very far away and thinks that any survivors would escape a long distance (thoughtful and helpful...and I think he's the one who decides on their path?).
Hirato points out that mud/earth is jutting out of an artificial spring which seems sprayed out... so there could be an underground room which had an explosion. (observant and astute)
Tsukitachi: But-- although I agree, under normal circumstances you'd say wait for intructions from above and then stop me. [Hirato is a stickler for rules while Tsukitachi is easy going]
Hirato: There are no such people here, so there's no choice. The world also has a moment between life and death (?) [how serious]
Soon, they find a crying child who is leviating in the air of the ruined underground space they go to. It's an extremely traumatised and experimented on little Yogi of course. I'm going to refer to him as 'the child' since they don't know him then. Upon seeing strangers, the child attacks them by telekinesis of rubble so he's very dangerous.
Hirato: Is it a Valga? I have never heard of one who could use powers without its body transforming. (quick to come to conclusions but can think critically)
Tsukitachi: You alright?
Hirato: Of course
Tsukitachi: This laboratory took damage because of that person... this is bad. (more emotional than Hirato)
Hirato: (He's) coming!! We have to kill (him). (quick thinking despite life and death situation)
Eventually, Hirato manages to put a choking grab on the childwho stops attempting to attack although he has the power to do so. In between gasps, the child cries out for his long dead sister. At this point of time, Hirato's expression shows that he's not as calm as he was before.
I hope those gasps are due to crying and not Hirato's choking but then Hirato did have the intention to kill the child.
Hirato has a change in decision of killing the post-human child, so he pins the child to the wall instead. Also random, but poor Yogi is practically skin and bones seeing that Hirato could use one hand to pin both arms down I'M UPSET FOR NOTICING THIS NOW
He asks Tsukitachi to check the child's face to the database who confirms the child to be Rimuhakka's prince. (he's probably really reluctant to kill the child at this point of time?)
... and the flashback ends with the future captains rescuing their future fighter. This chapter completely changes the Hirato/Yogi relationship so much I can't, especially when it means that Hirato is actually the first person that Yogi has contact with after god knows how long all alone after he killed all the scientists nd wrecked the lab.
However, I think that they only rescued Yogi because he was the prince? It's like they had to check the database before deciding whether to help... Circus views things in black and white and I believe that Yogi's existence sparked a hue debate in Circus.
In conclusion, Hirato and Tsukitachi are awesome even as teenagers really. Without Tsukitachi's tact and instinct, they would not have chanced upon the lab. If Hirato did not think quickly enough, Yogi would have ended up killing them.
