honestly, not surprised. and like many people, I'm very relieved. even a year later I am STILL pissed about how the last season ended and how it royally screwed over Fifteen and ESPECIALLY Belinda. I get that based on a lot of leaks and rumours, there were very last-minute reshoots but Doctor Who related productions have pulled off much better things in tighter timeframes (see: Torchwood), so really, what the fuck was their excuse for that ending? you're telling me THAT went through layers and layers of reshoots, approvals, and editing and the production team were just okay with that??????
it's interesting thinking about how classic who went on hiatus vs how nuwho is going on hiatus. classic who was just starting to get better, but studio politics and public burnout killed it. this time it fizzled out in a combo of...studio politics again and an absolutely fucking terrible ragebait of a season finale.
can't believe rtd revived the show AND killed it. such a talent!!! /s
at least we have the loving embrace of big finish audios to keep us going. classic whovians had to wait a DECADE for that.
