i heard this song this morning:

recently i have been seeing lots of the bts ‘Dwarf Boot Camp’ videos from The Hobbit on my socials.

my brain thought: dwarves in dwarf-a-fied 80s workout clothes and aerobics.

but i have not the skills to realise this vision. if you’re artistically inclined and are looking for a hobbit fanart prompt, like please.

also i have no excuse for my thought process, other then gestures broadly at the world i’m trying to escape from.

Following Richard's appearance at German Film & Comic Con this weekend and the excitement expressed by attendees upon meeting Thorin Oakenshield "in the flesh", it seems fair to focus 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 on what Rich went through to "become" Thorin for The Hobbit. Here he is at Dwarf Boot Camp learning how to wield Orcrist. It was an interesting challenge because of the weapon's unique shape and weight. Of those rigorous training sessions, he says, "Orcrist has a motion of its own which at first was very difficult to control. It's really heavy and long, and quite hard to balance, so I had to work on my forearm strength."

Workout Wednesday (TH, dwarf boot camp) ⚔️ Richard followed a strenuous training regime to learn how to wield the heavy Orcrist in a natural, elegant fashion. Even in photos of his practice sessions with a lighter, wooden "sword", you can see the concentration and exertion on his face.
