so tricky to find seadragon zooms on kelp in this game... bc if you swim too close to a piece of kelp, it'll knock over and the zoom goes away!

one might assume the water fog in the aquarium is just stronger, but no! the sand, rocks, and coral here are actually tinted significantly more blue than anywhere else in the game

looking back on this game as an adult, it's super cool of it to include lesser-known, seriously endangered species in their game!!

it increases awareness of neglected species, especially in the case of skates, rays, and sawfish, which get pretty shafted in terms of protection compared to sharks

something i really respect about eo1's atmosphere is its use of negative space

when the creatures populating an environment are carefully placed and not crammed like sardines, it adds to the game's realism, while also making those inhabitants more individually memorable <3
