I just spent literally all day reading this fic (Lay down your sweet and weary head) where Thorin is the one that get's a second chance and yeah that was an interesting premise but what interested me more was that Elrond and the twins were in the character tags

I've caught up completely and you know who hasn't popped up, Elrond and the twins

LUCKILY, it's also a really really good fic and Galadriel shows up and is a badass and actually everything has been wonderful and a great slow burn

One of the things that's really cool tho is

(spoilers)

the fact that at one point Thranduil is in possession of the Arkenstone and willingly gives it back to Thorin

and it's not mentioned but I'm fairly certain that the implication that the Arkenstone is a Silmaril is there too

and just

that's really really cool to me??

idk this fic has been really cool and I can't wait to see how it progresses

This is also our first real look at a wider range of dwarf armor

half of them should be dated tho since it's been years since anyone has forged any in that mountain and the other half would be coming from the Iron Hills
