Gone [ A random Rem x Ritsuka fic that may or may not make sense because I wrote it out of sadness]
Yeah, wrote this like at 12 a.m. in the middle of the night. I don’t think it’s one of my best works so I might write a better version with the same concept when I have the inspiration to. For now, Hope my writing is still passable =w=

It had been almost a year since Rem had gone back to the demon world.
Though she had hopes that they'd see each other in the far future, she couldn't deny the fact that she was starting to have doubts about about how far that future will be. Ten years? Maybe even a hundred? She had no clue.
She wanted to see him again. And she was getting more and more impatient as the days went by.
“Who knew that being in a ‘long distance relationship’ was going to be this hard?” Ritsuka thought to herself.
Even with that said,were they even in a relationship? It had happened so fast that they hadn't even had their first date, much less actually BE in a relationship.
Maybe he had even forgotten about me right now…
She brought these very same thoughts with her every night as she drifted off to sleep.
Little did she know that she'd be seeing him soon later that very night, in a place that they once saw in their dreams.
Ritsuka opened her eyes to find herself standing in a field of cosmo flowers. A gentle breeze caressed her cheek and sent a few petals swirling all around her. She then looked down to find herself dressed in a plain white floral dress.
I should be asleep right now but… Where am I?
“ Ritsuka,” A familiar voice said. Her eyes widened at the sound of that voice.
Is this a dream?
It couldn't be, it felt all too real to be just a dream.
Immediately, she turned around, expecting to see a familiar face ; A face that she had longed to see once again for months and indeed, he was standing right there.
Short messy ash blonde hair that swayed along with the gentle breeze, aquamarine eyes that could pierce her soul with just one look, and a smile that was so warm and gentle it melted her heart.
It's him. It really is him.
“Rem...?” She struggled to fight back tears of joy.
“ It's been quite some time, Ritsuka. How have you been lately?” He gave her a shy smile.
Without a second thought, she took a leap forward, closing in the small distance between them and embraced him tightly, burying her face in his chest as she cried out tears of joy.
“ I missed you...so so much…” She said between sobs.
“ Hmm, me too. “ He replied as he pulled her close and nuzzled against her head, breathing in the scent of her hair.
He pulled away from the hug and observed her closely. Her chestnut brown hair had grown out quite a bit, and was now reaching her shoulders. Aside from that, she had the same big bright Amber eyes and a delicate face that seemed more mature than the last time he saw her. He reached out to caress her cheek, her skin was as soft and smooth as the very last time he did that.
Seeing that there were still a few tears left at the corner of her eyes , he gently brushed them away.
“ Hey Ritsuka, mind if we go somewhere?” He casually asked her.
“ ...Where are we going?” Ritsuka stared at him with a confused look.
“Some place with a better view of the field.” He smiled at her. With that, he took her hand in his and pulled her along the trail of flowers.
Holding onto his hand, she observed him .The Rem before her, showed no signs of the Elite and sophisticated devil she once knew. He was dressed in a simple white dress shirt that was untucked and had his sleeves rolled up, accompanied with simple blue jeans and a pair of brown shoes.
He's no more than an ordinary guy right now. It was as if a burden had been lifted up from his shoulders.
After walking for awhile, they finally reached the top of a small hill overlooking the field as Ritsuka gasped at the view before her in awe. It was a sea of pink cosmo flowers stretching out into the horizon.
“ Beautiful isn't it?” Rem asked, noticing the look of amazement in her eyes. She squeezed his hand just a little tighter. Indeed it was breathtakingly beautiful , so beautiful that it seemed so surreal, almost as if it would vanish in just a blink of an eye.
As the couple settled themselves down on the grassy hill, Ritsuka took the opportunity to rest her head on his shoulder as the both of them enjoyed the view that was displayed right in front of them, their hands never once letting go of each other.
“ Fufu, this reminds me of the first time we danced together.” Rem let out a light chuckle , reminiscing about the time he was still in the human world.
“ How so? ” Ritsuka looked up at him.
“ Doesn't this scenery look familiar to you? The place that we've always dreamed of, ”
“...Where we could love each other freely, without being bounded by our names or our destinies… “
Ritsuka continued as her mind drifted back to that time at the school's annual dance party. The song that ran through their heads, like they were the only two people in their own little world. Just like where they are now. It gave her a fuzzy feeling and at the same time, brought her a little sadness.
Does this mean that this is all just a dream?
Ritsuka slightly frowned at the thought of that. She wanted this to last forever. She wanted to be with him for as long as she could. Yes, she wanted to be this selfish just for once.
Unbeknownst to her, Rem was thinking about the exact same thing as his mind drifted off to a memory that happened not too long ago.
[Flashback]
“ …...I want to see her…with your powers… That's the only thing I could ever ask of you…...I’m sorry...Urie…… “
“ …… As you wish, my friend….. “
[ Flashback end ]
As Rem stared off into the horizon, the sun had already begun to set, time was running up. As much as he wanted this to last a little longer, he had to tell her the truth. Even if they were to be separated again . Forever.
“ Ritsuka, I have…. Something important to tell you… “ His voice was soft, close to a whisper even, yet it was clear enough for Ritsuka to catch on. Worried, she immediately sat up straight, her eyebrows slightly furrowed at his words
Does it have anything to do with the place they're in right now?
“Is something wrong?” Ritsuka asked. Rem fell silent for awhile.
“ ...The truth is…This field that we're sitting on… Even me myself… are all just an illusion… You're now in a dream, Ritsuka.” He said to her with sadness in his eyes.
Ritsuka felt a pang of disappointment wash over her as he delivered her the very truth that she had feared. This was indeed all a dream and nothing but a dream.
“ But how is this possible? If you're not real then how am I able to touch you? “ Ritsuka refused to accept the truth even though she knew that it was futile. Rem didn't answered and shifted his gaze towards the setting sun.
“ Our physical bodies were never here in the first place. Right now, what you and I are seeing, is just nothing but our own conscience. We both only exist in the same place because it's a dream and…… This is all because I was the one who asked for it… “ Rem explained to her in a rather sad tone, his eyes never leaving the view before him.
“ What did you asked for, Rem?”
“ Urie, I asked him to create a dream where the both of us could meet again for one last time…… “
“What do you mean for one last time? “ Ritsuka stared at him wide eyed. It can't be……
“ I'm afraid my time here on Earth is about to come to an end …” Rem spoke in a rather calm tone but the sadness beneath his words was uncontainable.
“ What are you saying Rem?! Don't say such a thing! “ Ritsuka shouted at him as fear crept up to her. Why is he saying such things? !
“ Ritsuka ...I'm sorry but… I can't fulfill the promise of meeting you again in the real world…I'm sorry for being so incompetent…I'm sorry for being such a weak existence …I should've known better to remain as the bad guy…This… is my last goodbye to you…Please forgive me…. “ With those words, Ritsuka felt a pair of soft lips on hers.
It was then that she noticed that the warmth that she had felt before was slowly turning colder and colder. Before she knew it, he had vanished without a trace, only the silence of the night was there to accompany her. The sun had finally set.
Ritsuka immediately sat up from bed. In the darkness of her room, she cried and cried, yet there were only tears, no screaming or shouting, just tears streaming down from the corner of her eyes.
Rem had left…… For a reason that she would never know.
Outside of the Tachibana residence, a silhouette with Ginger hair stood there dressed in a cloak.
“ I did what you asked for, Rem……may your soul finally be in peace…..” In the silence of the night, a stray tear rolled down his cheek. Rem had indeed left them, he was no longer in this world nor was he in theirs. He had left both their worlds.
The Real Demon names, known as 魔名 (mana) for the Devils.
We already know Rem’s of course ( Nerd has been mentioning it through out the whole show), Lindo’s is nothing secretive but What about Urie, Mage, Shiki and Roen?
Here’s a rough translation of the Devil names for these four characters ( this may or may not be the true spelling of their names) :
Shiki : Kirael ( Yep, my whole life was a lie)
Mage : Mage Gangaruchua ( I honestly have no fucking idea how to spell this stop laughing xDD)
Urie : Urieganof Fuser ( I swear to god his first name….)
Roen : Roen Lilynight /Lilyknight ( This is actually a pretty nice name)
So I did a thing for Rem ...
