Huion Contributing Tutorial Series--The rendering process of “Dream Catcher”
Ending map: this is a completed rendering.
Step 1: Create a 300 Pixels Canvas. Open the Brush Panel, use the basic brush and check the “Shape Dynamics”. Then draw the sketch lines as below.
Step2: Set the Blending mode to “Multiply” and adjust the Opacity. Next, in order to add softness to the sketch lines, create layers beneath the sketch layer to fill the background.
Step3: Create layer above the back ground layer and set as “clipping mask”. Retouch the complexion and hair of the figure (add shadow and highlight, then use Airbrushes to soften the boundary between them). The right side of the hair looks brighter because of applying the “overlay” layer. Besides, fill saffron yellow to the “overlay” layer would help to enrich color of the hair.
Step4: Use a basic texture brush, and adjust the setting as below to paint the shadow texture of the moon.
Step5: Retouch the dress and horse. Use Gradient Tool to drop shadow on the bottom left, and Airbrush in light green to a lighter shadow of the dress. Then select white as the highlight color of the dress. After that, apply the same method to the horse.
Step6: Draw a castle in the night. Use Rectangular Marquee Tool to draw up a general shape, and execute “Edit—fill”. Thus we build up a towel already! Next, use eraser to do the trimming job and shape a spire. Then, use the same method to draw the rest part of the castle. In the end, draw the window by using a hard brush in orange.
Step7: Create a render layer under the castle layer, and use airbrush to render the light as shown in below.
Step8: Use mist brush, and paint mist around the figure to create a hazy atmosphere.
Step9: Use flower brush to add some drifting flowers.
Step10: Select a basic hard brush, check “Transfer” and draw some light spots as shown in below.
Step11: Create layer under the figure layer. Then select airbrush, pick light yellow color and create some radiant of the figure. In the end, execute “Gaussian Blur” to soften the light.
Step12: Merge the visible layers and execute “Color Balance”. After adjusting the overall tone, we finish the whole painting!
