TW - Drug negotiation, threats, cannabis and cigarette-smoking, alcohol consumption, perverts with no boundaries, illegal nightclub activities, I think that's it
Series masterlist -> chap. 3
a/n: Enjoy the shit out of this chapter. It's 9:27 am and I haven't slept. Momma Luvva worked hard on this ^^
Red lights. Everywhere. The entire club was just red and black– smoke coming from certain booths that were on the right side of the place, a dance floor in the center, and a large flashy bar on the left.
You hadn’t even fully walked in and your heels came face-to-face with a broken bottle of liquor. The strong smell of tobacco, weed, and whatever else that was in the air made your nose immediately crinkle in disgust.
Your eyes slowwwwly shifted around, taking in the chaotic and very new-to-you atmosphere.
There were fog machines, flashing red lights, and the huge crowd of drunk (and possibly drugged) people on the dancefloor that wasn’t too far from where you stood.
Holy shit, are those two?–
The gravelly voice you heard in your ear completely snapped you out of your shock. You turn your head to the side to see a blonde man just a couple of years older than you with a nasty scar on his cheek trying to move past you.
A slow puff of smoke left his lips and hit you right in the face, making you tightly press your lips together and take a step back.
The man said nothing to you and made way behind you to pass.
Until you felt a rough, calloused hand slide slowwwly along the curve of your ass as he did.
You turn your head to look around.
“Hey!” Deanna was already hooked onto a man.
“What’s wrong? You look like you’ve just seen a ghost.” She grins at you as you stiffly step forward, the big doors of the club closing behind you.
You furrow your brows at her and look past your shoulder once more, still processing what just happened.
“...That man just touched my ass.”
Deanna’s brows raise. “What?” She tilts her chin up to look over your shoulder, smile faltering.
You press your lips together, eyes searching around and scanning some people nearby.
Your best friend lets out a sigh, reaching over to you and taking a hold of your arm, gently pulling you beside her.
“Forgot you’re like, new here.” She looks at you with a slightly irked pout. “Sorry about that, honey.”
She’s saying that like it's normal to touch a girl’s ass here without consent.
-Regardless of that, you and Deanna were eventually led up to the VIP section.
But, before getting through…
“Try not to look into anyone’s booths up here.” The man that randomly accompanied your best friend gave you a charming smile, sharp golden eyes giving you a short once-over.
“Our customers here have…”
His eyes slowly trail down to look at your boobs.
“...More privacy than the ones on the first floor.”
Oh, so the men in this club are just predators.
The exhale of a soft chuckle leaves your nose and you give him a soft smile back, both at his audacity and words.
“After what I witnessed earlier, I don’t think I want to.”
He simply points a finger at you that is soon followed by a wink,
“Smart girl. I don’t doubt it.”
“–Alright, enough. What else are we waiting for, a life lecture?” Deanna rolls her eyes, stepping into the open hallway. “Move your asses.”
And so the three make their way up.
The atmosphere was quiet– Not totally silent, but quiet enough to not have to yell over the music if you’re trying to talk to someone.
And you definitely don’t feel the bass of the music making your entire body simultaneously vibrate.
You glance into the hall, stepping in behind Deanna.
The stranger looks down at the VIP tickets that were handed to him prior to now and lifts his head.
Deanna gives him an impatient smile.
You silently rub your lips together and watch as he starts walking past the booths, following alongside Deanna.
Maybe this club isn’t so bad after all.
Or maybe you’ll be eating your words.
–A few hundred-dollar bills are slammed onto the dark glass of the round coffee table.
“There! Is that not enough for you? It’s all I brought with me–”
Two ringed fingers lazily nudge the bills apart as a dark figure leans forward.
Brown eyes laxly shift to the right as Choso softly huffs.
“Kechizu, get him outta here.” He slowly leans back against the velvet cushions in a wide manspread, closing his eyes and putting the blunt to his lips.
“You call that shit money?” Another slow drag and a thick cloud of smoke.
The boy’s eyes flicker down to his belt, catching a glint of something.
The sliver of a gun tucked into his waistband.
His eyes widen, “Shit– okay,” He scrambles to dig in his hoodie pockets, dropping three more hundred bills.
Choso cracks one eye open.
Four… five…
“...Thought $200 was all you had.” His fingers drum against his lap and he sighs, sitting up straight.
“If I don’t have dumb people workin’ for me, I’m sure they told you it was $1,500 for one kilo.” His fingers crush the blunt onto a nearby ash tray.
Then, brown orbs shift to the boy’s face.
“No, but–”
Choso silently leans forward, eyes focused on the shaking college boy stiffly sitting across from him.
Everyone in the booth goes quiet.
Choso’s eyebrows raise slowly.
“...Are you calling me dumb?”
The boy leans away in response to the sudden closeness, swallowing dryly.
“That’s not what I-”
“Kechizu.”
Before the boy can even utter another word, a heavy hand lands on his shoulder.
Finally making your way through the VIP floor alongside your best friend, the red-haired stranger led you past some booths.
They were bigger up here. The ones on the first floor had less privacy.
Quiet conversations reached your ears.
Certain sounds came from certain booths that you could hear clear as day as you walked by.
“I can get you the rest tomorrow,”
“–You come back and I’ll make this harder than it has to be.”
A guy that looked at least a year younger than you was getting pushed out of a booth you were nearing, and the random interaction effortlessly caught your attention.
–Once the boy was out, everyone in the booth slowly began getting back into conversation.
Choso silently leaned back against the cushioned seat as the others spoke, letting out a low exhale through his nose.
What an annoying situation.
You notice an azure-haired man stepping back into that same booth, your eyebrows faintly raising as you neared it.
Choso takes a glass cup from the table and a bottle of liquor.
And for some strange reason, you keep your eyes on the outside of the booth.
As you get closer Choso brings the cup to his lips, staring off in thought.
When you walk right past–
He sees a flash of red- a deep red,
Before you could completely process it, your eyes meet a pair of dark ones.
Brown hair, a lazy gaze, and you waste no time in turning your head away.
A long gulp of the alcoholic beverage and Choso subtly tilts his head to the side in curiosity.
That guy looked super dangerous.
You silently furrow your brows, continuing to follow Deanna and the stranger.
“...Maybe I’m just overreacting.”
“Hm?” Your best friend’s eyes snap over to look at you, and you give her a firm shake of your head,
Deanna parts her lips and says nothing, giving you an unreadable look.
Then she gives you a tight, slightly reassuring smile with her glossy lips, glancing briefly past your shoulder. She turns her head away before you could see the faint twitch in her expression.
“This right here is Kaito– he’ll be serving us our drinks for tonight, and…” Deanna gives Kaito a sidelong glance with a slick smirk, trailing a manicured hand down his arm. She struts over to you as you sit on the velvet cushioned seats and plops down beside you, giving you a sly grin. “If you want any other… specific services, he’ll be happy to help you out.”
Your brows faintly raise in thought.
–No. Absolutely not. He probably has crabs.
Kaito tilts his head slightly to the side, giving you a charming grin. When he did, your eyes caught the sight of a tattoo on one side of his neck and all you could truly do was just… stare.
Crimson undercut. Tan skin. Amber eyes. Tattoos.
He steps over to where you're sitting and sticks out his hand,
“Anything you want… Jus’ let me know and I'll get it for you.”
You give him a soft smile back with your name slipping past your lips– feeling the surprising softness of his palm when he kisses the top of your hand.
Of course his hands are soft. He’s like, a male prostitute…
Eventually, Kaito had gotten you and Deanna your drinks. You’d ordered a simple margarita mocktail while your friend on the other hand–
“Strawberry daiquiri in a martini glass with a cherry on the side, please.”
Someone’s having fun tonight.
You take your beverage in your hand, silently sipping at the sweetness as you lean back against the cushions.
The music was starting to get annoyingly loud.
Despite that, you were still able to hear a certain conversation.
Kaito sat beside Deanna with a sigh, crossing one leg over the other.
“You haven’t been around lately.”
She gives him a sidelong glance, “Aren’t you supposed to be serving other people?”
He shrugs, “Boss won’t see me.”
“He’s literally three booths away.” Deanna sips at her daiquiri.
Kaito’s eyebrows raise.
“No, not him. I was talking about the manager.” He gives you a quick glance and slowly shifts closer to Deanna, whispering something in her ear.
“...You know Mr. Kamo could care less. He jus’ wants to expand the business.”
Deanna shakes her head at his response, looking forward with a more serious expression. “You know too much.”
“I hear things here n’ there.”
You stare at the both of them, faintly furrowing your brows.
What’s with all of this damn secrecy?...
You sigh, glancing around.
The flashing lights are giving you subtle eye strain.
The music feels like it’s getting louder and louder and the bass won't stop vibrating through your chest.
You feel like you’re in danger,
Like there’s danger all around you.
And clearly telling from that man you saw earlier and that weirdo who touched your ass, there are dangerous people here.
And Deanna looks like she’s hiding something from you.
You exhale quietly through your nose, standing up from the seat.
And also starting to get a bit scary.
Deanna turns her head to look at you, blinking a few times. “Where’re you going?”
“Bathroom… I’ll be back quick.”
She pouts a little, blinking up at you.
“Okay… don’t take too long, I want to take you down to dance!”
“Okay!”
You step out of the booth, running a hand through your hair with an uneasy expression twisting your features.
“‘Don’t even know where the bathroom is…”
Kaito watches you walk away and leans subtly closer to Deanna, eyes glued to your figure as it disappears from his sight.
“...Y’know, she’d be a good fit for Boss.”
Deanna’s eyes snap to his side profile and her playful expression immediately falters.
“Don’t even think about it.” Her hand swirls the glass of daiquiri, bringing it to her lips.
He raises a brow.
“His men always tell me to look for someone–”
“No,” Your best friend shakes her head, “I only brought her here so she could enjoy herself. ”
Kaito chuckles lightly, crossing a leg over the other.
“Didn’t really look like she was enjoying herself just now.”
Your lips press together.
“I’ll just step out for a bit.”
Out to those creepy subway corridors?...
Forgot we’re underground.
You turn your head to glance around once more.
“It’s not like there’s a balcony here or something.”
I have to step out and breathe.
Deanna furrows her brows and gives Kaito a confused glance.
“What? She was just fine. She’s just getting used to the place here–”
“-She doesn’t even know where the bathroom is, Deanna.”
The blonde goes silent, her eyes slightly widening.
Your hands carefully tug down at the hem of your dress as you begin to make your way over to the stairs.
Maybe I can try to have some fun when I come back up here… Your lips press up into a pout,
Deanna did say she wants to dance with me–
You stumble back a bit, putting your hand on your forehead.
Then, you look up as the person in front of you turns around to face you.
Those same brown eyes from before are looking back down at you now, deep and…
A deep, husky voice interrupts your thoughts.
He looks down at you with an unreadable expression.
Your eyes subtly widen, and you part your lips.
Four men stood behind him,
One of them held a black trashbag with something inside.
Definitely not a dead body…
“Ah, yeah– sorry,” You crease your brows in embarrassment and…
Maybe you were also a little nervous?
“I wasn’t paying attention...”
His eyes traveled briefly over your features- like he was checking you out.
That made a shiver run down your spine.
This guy gives me the creeps.
But… On second thought, he’s actually not so–
A voice behind you yells out your name.
You look back to see Deanna with a worried and… almost nervous look on her face as she hurries over to you.
“Oh,” You mumble under your breath, fully turning your body to face her.
She doesn’t even try catching her breath.
“I told you, the bathroo–”
“It’s on the other side.”
Deanna gives you a wide-eyed look, not sparing Choso a single glance.
It’s clear to you; She doesn’t want you near this man.
You give her a subtle nod, slowly opening your mouth to speak.
“Oh– right, I forgot to ask you where it was n’...” You glance at the taller stranger, before back at your best friend. “...Just started walking around.”
Her expression faintly relaxes, and she nods back.
“Yeah, come on.” Her hand takes a soft hold of your wrist and she starts walking you back to the booth, making you stumble slightly as she turned the opposite direction.
All you could do was glance back at him as Deanna dragged you away.
And all he did was simply stare.
Choso’s eyebrows subtly raise in amusement as he watches you get taken away by your friend.
Kechizu walks out of their own booth and stops beside Choso, raising a brow.
He takes in a deep inhale through his nose and lets out a heavy exhale, staring off into the now empty hallway.
“Nothing,” Without looking, Choso nods his head at his men, “Take the money to the car.”
His brother watches him turn around and walk off toward the stairs,
“Where’re you goin’?”
He shakes his head, looking back at him.
“Make sure the money’s good n’ go home.” And he turns away with a faint wave in Kechizu’s direction.
The cyan-haired man simply nodded, watching Choso disappear down the stairs.
When the both of you finally made it to the bathroom a breath that you didn’t know you were holding until you stepped into the cleaner environment left your lips.
The music was at least muffled in here; so you were actually able to relax.
And the place was also empty.
But…
“–Why didn’t you ask me where the bathroom was? What, you just like, left and started walking around?!”
Your eyebrows immediately furrow, finding her angry gaze.
“Okay, woah. Relax. I don’t know why you’re freaking out over something so–” You pause and let out a heavy sigh, looking off to the side in thought.
Then, you look at her again. “What was wrong with that man? You don’t usually act overprotective in any sort of way whenever you see me with any man that I like–”
“You like him?!”
“No– “
“That’s not my point.” You raise your brows at her, parting your lips. “I just want to know why you so desperately wanted to get me away from him. What was the reason?”
Deanna sighs, walking over to the sinks. Your eyes follow her movements in clear confusion.
“Do you have a thing for him? Is he an ex?--”
“No! God, No, I just..” Her brows creased and she looked… nervous again.
Worried, in a way.
“He’s the owner of this club.”
Your brows furrow in confusion.
What’s so bad about that?...
Oh, wait.
So much happened in those few minutes that you had totally forgotten about the place you were in.
Right, Club Red. An underground club, first and foremost.
Where the smell of weed, tobacco, and cigarettes immediately hit your nose when you first stepped in.
Where you saw random people in booths openly having sex.
Where you literally saw the owner and his men face-to-face holding a trash bag that definitely didn’t have trash in it.
You blink a couple of times.
But, I mean, he can’t be that bad…?
“I still don’t–”
“He’s a gang leader. He owns a gang.” She looks at you, her expression more serious than ever.
“He does illegal shit– what it is, I don’t know, but anything you’d imagine for a gang leader. He’s dangerous.”
Your eyes widen almost comically, and your heart totally sinks.
It all makes sense now. Mainly why Deanna nearly caused a scene to get you away from him.
“I just know him because I’ve heard stuff about him,” She presses her lips together. “--And I just want you to be safe. I mean, I did bring you here after all.”
You look at her again, shoulders slouching slightly.
It was hard to collect your thoughts with what she’d just told you.
“I mean… With what you’ve told me and what I’ve seen it doesn’t really seem like a safe environment… I’ve literally been here for less than an hour and I already spoke to him.”
Deanna’s the one to look off to the side this time. “You’re probably right.”
A pause and a soft exhale. “I’m sorry I even brought you here, babe…” She looks at you and frowns.
“I should’ve known this wasn’t your thing.”
You immediately shake your head and step over to the mirror beside her, checking your appearance.
“No, Dee, clubs are fine,” You stop and give her a sidelong glance, “This is just an overly extreme version of it…”
Then, to try and lighten up the mood a little…
You furrow your brows and give her a soft smile.
“Where’d you even find this place?”
Your best friend stares at you for a bit and then gives you a slick grin, running a hand through her blond hair.
Deanna was basically yelling over the music as you both made way down the VIP hall.
She suddenly stops and grabs your shoulders.
“Are you sure you don’t want to just leave now?--”
A huff leaves your lips and you put your own hands on her shoulders. Deanna creases her brows at you in soft concern as her arms slowly drop to her sides.
“Yes, Deanna, I’m sure.” You give her a small, reassuring smile. “Quit worrying so much.”
“Besides, you said you wanted to dance with me,” Your smile stretches up into a grin. “Let’s dance and then we can leave, Okay? We’re not going to let some big mafia boss ruin our night.”
Deanna’s concerned look immediately shifts into happy excitement,
“Oh– well, when you say it like that…”
Listening to her you cautiously look around, soon glancing over the hallway railing and down at the crowd on the dance floor.
Sure, it didn’t feel any safer than it did before, but for the sake of your friend wanting you to come to this club, you might as well enjoy yourselves. That is what you originally came here for, no?
Besides, it doesn’t seem like he’s close by.
“–Let’s go now! We’re wasting so much time just standing around here, hello?!”
A surprised laugh leaves your lips when your best friend turns forward, hooks an arm around your shoulders and starts jogging as fast as she can toward the stairs in her stiletto pumps.
“OH!-- Deanna, we’re gonna fall!-”
-The dance floor was more packed than you had expected; You and Deanna had to squeeze past basically everyone in the crowd in order to get a good spot big enough for the both of you to dance.
The music was louder than ever down on the first floor, but at least your best friend seemed to be enjoying herself.
And you couldn’t lie… You were kind of enjoying yourself as well.
Deanna’s body swayed against yours and you moved together, matching the beat of the song that played on the speakers.
You started getting sweaty.
“Oh my gosh,” You pant softly. Deanna’s too busy singing the lyrics of the song to notice you slowing your movements.
When you completely stop dancing to fan yourself with your hand, that’s when she finally opens her eyes to look at you.
“Yeah, ‘m just thirsty…” Your eyes shift around the crowd, and Deanna’s eyebrows shoot up.
“Oh! There’s a bar to your right. They might have water or like, Vodka up there or something. Whatever hydrates you, I dunno.”
She wipes her forehead with the back of her hand,
“Go check and come to the exit after,” She huffs, slowing down as well and glancing down at her heels. “My feet are starting to hurt, and I’m getting hungry.”
You give her a quick nod.
“Yeah, me too– just get my purse from our booth.”
Your best friend nods back at you,
“Okay. Don't take too long, though. I’ll be waiting for you.”
You give her a quick wave and turn toward the direction of the bar.
It was hard to tell if it was the fact that you were completely out of energy or that you were now alone, but it was more difficult to get past all of the people dancing. And the heat of their bodies wasn’t helping.
You even had to awkwardly push past a couple that was making out in front of you.
Where the hell is this bar?--
A surprised yelp leaves your lips when an extremely cold drink sloshes onto your dress after bumping into someone, making goosebumps immediately rise on your skin.
Aaaand unlike last time where you just stumbled, you’re literally about to fall now.
Right before a large hand grabs your arm and pulls you back into place.
For some reason, right in that moment, the song that was playing changed.
You gasp at the sudden touch and tense up at the intensity of the situation, and if that wasn’t intense enough, your eyes widen when you see the person who prevented you from busting your ass.
Looking back down at you with slightly wide eyes.
“Shit,” He lets go of your arm and digs in his back pocket for something.
The stranger stretches his hand out to give you a handkerchief. You silently stare down at the dark cloth, letting out a soft sigh and reluctantly taking it from his ringed hand, looking down at your chest as you silently dried it.
“...Atleast it’s leather.” You mutter loud enough for him to hear, handing him back the now dampened fabric with a shaky hand.
At this point you don’t care about who the hell he is or if he ties people up and cuts their heads off as punishment. This man spilled his cold ass drink all over your tits right after nearly giving you a concussion.
Now you’re cold and still thirsty.
“You’re shaking.” His deep voice snaps you out of your thoughts as a finger points down at your hands. You look up at him, before down at your shaking hands, and back up at him.
“Well, yeah, I almost just fell.”
He raises a brow and chuckles.
“You that scared of falling?”
Your brows furrow in annoyance and you narrow your eyes up at him. “Do you usually not watch where you’re going?”
The stranger raises his hands in surrender, lips twitching into an amused smile. You notice a long dimple appear next to the corner of his lips when he smiles.
“Alright, alright, it was my fault.”
You continue to give him a pointed stare, but your gaze soon relaxes after hearing his apology.
“...’S fine. Thanks for the towel.” You glance down at your dress and eventually walk away.
And his eyes never leave your figure.
Once you make it to the bar you silently lean your side against the counter, pressing your hand up against your cheek with a soft pout.
My dress still feels wet…
You let out a soft, annoyed sigh.
Suddenly, a bartender appears by your side almost immediately. Your eyebrows raise, and you look around. The rest of the workers were busy with other people, and there were others that had been waiting way before you. Why is this one?--
“What are you getting?” You jolt in place when he appears beside you again, and your expression relaxes.
“Just water…” You blink up at him, watching him order your drink and his own.
Then, he turns his head to face you again. His eyes travel from your hair to your heels.
“...Still looks like I ruined your night.”
It’s like this man is stripping me down with his eyes.
“You definitely ruined my dress.”
Choso’s eyebrows slowly raise. Then, he looks down and pulls out a fancy looking wallet from his front pocket.
Your own eyebrows raise in surprise.
Such a gentleman… You wouldn’t even know he’s dangerous.
“Uh…” Your eyes shift to the side,
He blinks down at you, lips parted.
He quietly stares at you for a couple of seconds and then looks back down at his wallet with a faint shake of his head, silently thumbing through bills.
As he did you finally got to pause and just…
Sure, you’d noticed his short half-up half down, the weird black line going across his nose, and his sickeningly pale skin.
You started noticing more.
His tired-looking eyes and the dark circles around them that made him look even more attractive in the strangest way.
The piercing on his eyebrow.
The multiple silver rings on his fingers.
The black blazer that rests on his shoulders.
How his physique bulges slightly under the black button down and dress pants he wore, and despite that they looked perfectly tailored to his size–
You blink down at the five $100 dollar bills that he was currently handing you.
“There. $500 for your pretty dress.”
You glance up at him and press your lips together, slowly taking the cash from him.
You know damn well that dress cost you $15 on shein.
But… a win’s a win, right?
Your fingers tuck the bills beneath your palm.
He gives you a short nod, putting his wallet away.
For some time, silence falls between the both of you.
The music pounds against your chest.
People pass by, careful not to bump into him.
You sip at your cup of water that he willingly ordered for you.
And for some reason… you feel just fine beside him. Not intimidated or scared or even in danger, despite what Deanna had briefly told you about him.
Maybe you just haven’t fully processed the situation–
Right at that moment the man parts his lips to speak,
“Mm–” You quickly swallow your drink and nearly choke as you do so, putting the glass down on the counter.
Your wide eyes find his confused brown ones.
“--I’m so sorry, I just remembered I have a friend waiting for me,” You point toward the exit and he looks in that direction, leaning off of the bar.
“Thank you for the water– and the money!” You gave him a polite little smile followed by a small wave, and before he could respond or hold you off any longer, you were already rushing off to the exit.
… And just like that you disappeared behind a small crowd of people.
The stranger doesn’t move from the place he stood in beside the bar, still focused on the spot you disappeared off to.
“....” Choso picks up his drink from the counter.
“Didn’t know about that rejection tactic.” He takes a sip from his glass and turns back to face the bar.
His brows furrow and he turns again to search the crowd, before shaking his head and facing the bar again.
“–Hey! Where in the world did you go?–” Deanna looks you up and down, eyebrows shooting up.
“Is that money in your hand??”
Softly panting you glance down at the $500 curled into your palm, giving her a fast nod.
“You won't believe what happened.”
You hadn't expected time to go by so quickly when you were in the club with Deanna, but apparently, it did.
The cool summer night air felt –literally and figuratively– like a huge breath of fresh air. It was currently two in the morning and you were currently getting settled on the curb of a sidewalk near a food truck with your best friend. You both held ridiculously huge burgers in your hands.
The city was peacefully quiet. And your ears were still ringing.
“–And that’s when I started to think and I was like, oh my gosh, I forgot about Deanna!”
Your best friend sips at the large soda in her hand.
“Seriously?” She takes a bite of her burger, “You got real distracted, then.”
Then, she looks at you with a growing smile.
“Was he that hot to you? He looks kinda creepy to me.”
You give her an amused look and your smile mirrors hers.
“I mean..” You shrug, looking down at your heels. “He's not so bad.”
You glance back up at Deanna and she's already grinning at you.
“You big liar! You can't hide that type of stuff from me!”
Then, after a good laugh, she huffs, leaning her side against a street light.
Your laugh slowly quiets down.
“But uhm, I’m not telling you what to do or anything, just…” She finally glances at you, soft concern adorning her features.
“Be careful with him, okay?”
Your smile falters a bit, and you turn your head to look at her.
“I don’t want anything to happen to you just ‘cause you’re hanging around him.”
She is right about that, but…
You quietly shake your head at her words.
“I don’t think I’m gonna see him again anyway.” A reassuring smile forms on your lips.
“Don’t worry about me, Dee.”
Deanna gives you a soft smile in return,
You sip at the soda in your hand.
Then,
“Do you know his name?..”
Deanna raises her brows at you, before furrowing them and looking off to the side.
She nods, taking a bite out of her burger.
“Yeah. Choso… Choso Kamo.”
You nod slowly at the sound of his full name, pursing your lips.
